Notre Dame Defensive Coordinator To Be Named UConn Head Coach

CBS Sports is reporting that Bob Diaco, the current Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator at Notre Dame, will be named as the new head coach of UConn football. Reports are that a five year deal has been reached.

According to Diaco’s biography as posted on Notre Dame’s official site, he won the 2012 Broyle’s Award as the country’s best assistant coach after having been a semi-finalist in 2011. A variety of stats point to a defense that has been Notre Dame’s best in decades but that doesn’t appear to be lightning in a bottle. Similar stats for Cincinnati and Central Michigan show similar defensive dominance in those teams’ respective leagues.

Diaco is 40 years old and a 1995 graduate of Iowa University.
