I was thinking the same thing - just watched UConn Confidential and he seems like such a core part of the team’s personality and culture. Now, that doesn’t mean he’s a great player. But we’ve seen flashes. And he’s got the length that we may need from time to time - I feel like he’s the tallest player on the team (listed a 7’ in some places). All that said, its hard to imagine him getting a ton of PT behind Samson and Tarris, both of whom are more accomplished. I still would expect more PT for him than last year. We’ll see!

Samson still might be a foul trouble guy. I could see Singare getting some minutes here and there to help Tarris on this occasions.

I imagine that there will be a few games where Singare plays eight or so minutes a few where he barely sees the floor and a few where he doesn't get off the bench.

It will be 75%-80% foul situation with Johnson/Reed, 20%-25% opponent/matchups/pace of play.

Face it everyone on our roster is going to warrant more minutes than we can offer them. Even our leading players will play six or so fewer minutes per game than they would in most top five teams.

Not bashing, but imo a slightly more realistic take. Barring injury or single game major foul problems, I doubt he sees the court much more than last year. I think Alex is the 3rd 5 in a pinch.

As for him being the among the core of the team culture, yes I think that is true

More than likely because of the roster he won’t see much more time. But in the situation that both are in a bit of foul trouble I’m only guessing the staff would have more faith in him on the court to keep size rather than Alex. Of course it depends on the other teams size as well. But the kid has gotten better already it’s noticeable. He’s such a great teammate one can only hope!

He had a couple of very aggressive rebounds in the RI game. He was very active.

A year ago at this time nobody expected Diarra to play meaningful minutes.

Hard to be a 3rd year secret anything. Hoping he gets 8-10 min per game though to see his progression.

i guess once we figured out that samson ostill has issues fouling, we have to pivot our unrealistic expectations on someone else?

I hope for great seasons from everyone on the team...but yeesh. nothing we've seen out of youssef has shown he's ready to make the leap yet.

"nothing we have seen" maybe that is because the season hasn't started yet?

When I re-watched the RI game, I noticed he had gotten out of position a bit and gave up an easy field goal. I view that as an outlier - Coach has said he’s fine on D. But, He was better offensively than I would have expected.

Im not sure that Samson is more than a 15 mpg player. With this high powered offense, I could see using Singare for spot minutes - maybe up to 6 per game, and more when foul trouble arises. I’ll definitely be watching the early season blow outs to see how he plays.

I agree with this. They clearly couldn't trust him last year in those spots, but I think they'll put him out there if the other bigs are in foul trouble this year. He didn't look completely lost in his time in the URI scrimmage. He has some tools.

Samson and tarris are good players but have holes in their game. Singare will get some opportunities and will shine. I expect a 3 man rotation with singare having an opportunity to earn significant minutes. All 3 have different skills that will shine in different game scenarios

Some guys just develop slower especially remember Charles Okwandu. Think we're gonna need minutes from him in BE play with foul trouble and god forbid injuries( knock on wood). He has rebounded well and he can pick up fouls. Just needs to be a bit more confident on offense he had 2 layups against St John's last year that he should've put up.

If Singare improves enough to get a few minutes a game, that would be great. It's unlikely he would improve enough to be a meaningful contributor. (this year). But players do get better, so it's possible.
