Youssouf Singare Going to be a secret weapon?

From past experience Samson will be challenged inside due to his fouling. I'm expecting a pleasant surprise for us if Singare finds his way to the floor and the more time he is out there we will see what he has to offer. He has been scrimmaging against and Donovan as well as Samson and over a year in the weight room. I think he might demonstrate a bit of toughness. I don't know why some have such negative attitudes about playing time when we have barely seen him so far. Stay open minded. We're in the Big East which can get rough at times.

Hurley commented on Springs maybe getting some minutes during pre-season a couple yrs ago....and he then proceeded to never play.

Youssouf is a 5 man insurance policy this year, just like Springs was.

He played two minutes at the end of a scrimmage and many of you have seemingly lost the plot because of him "showing out" with 2 baskets against Rhodys 2nd and 3rd team.

I guess the collective distrust of Samson goes so deep with some of you as to call for aspirational hopes of Youssouf "the Dream" lol and the three headed center rotation. Meanwhile Samson is named to watch list as one of the nations top 20 Centers.....
Rotation? We are talking triple bigs aren't we??

Most of us are talking about what happens if Johnson and Reed are in foul trouble, which is pretty likely given their histories. Reed's foul rate is ok, but Johnson's has been really bad.

Agree and if we have a weakness this would be the specific area to attack and exploit. So he should have ample opportunities to prove himself if this is the case.

I believe I posted before his 5 fouls will come in handy. I won’t be surprised to see Him and Johnson on the floor at the same time against a real Big . I think SJ could play the four .

hurley hasn't done it in 6 years and he's gonna start now? I think not. we know what we're getting in terms of front court rotation.

I'm closer to this as well. I hope Singare develops and is good enough to play as an upperclassman. But Hurley didn't bring in Reed to make him third string.

Sinagre is only getting a chance if one of our two main bigs becomes unplayable, or is injured.

Just considering the effort coaches put into scouting and game prep...

Singare will, likely, be a "secret weapon".

I mean, how do you effectively prep your team for 3 different players at the 5, each with somewhat different skill sets.

You do it when your first 2 fives have 9 fouls between them with 10 minutes left in the game.

at which point we'll go karaban at the 5, as we did for a stretch last year. much more valuable to get our highly talented crop of guards and wings on the floor than YS.

People, people… Singare was a borderline 4 star recruit upon commitment. He was extremely raw and overmatched last year. This year he got two buckets against URIs backups in a scrimmage and now he’s going to be a “secret weapon” and part of a three man big rotation? What are we doing? Should TR and SJ get into foul trouble, which they will at times, I am relatively certain we will go small to get another one of the wings on the court. I mean what BE “bigs,” other than old man Kalkbrenner, do we need to be concerned about?

Also, I sincerely doubt we’re going 10-11 deep. As it is, I think a couple guys are not going to play as much as they thought.

Realistically, he gets time during late minutes of blowouts, and spot minutes when the other bigs are in foul trouble.

But, who knows, possibly his pace of development may be unusually rapid and lead to more time.

Regardless, he's probably out of the rotation in tournament time when the bench shortens.

Still, he can be a positive contributor from the bench. His positive spirit is great for the team. Championship teams have a happy and supportive bench:

Thank you. That's a great way of expressing how he might be playing.

Remember how hard it was for the very talented Solo Ball to get into the flow last year with limited minutes. Singare would have the same challenge, even if he's more ready this year.
