OT: Your favorite youtube channels

in the kali gold rush, the easy big money was made by the stuff providers, like the levi's jeans guy, the tool makers and distributors, and the pan people. blockchain is an energy pig 'The Bank for International Settlements has criticized the public proof-of-work blockchains for high energy consumption.' my two cents sez find the public companies in electricity supply manufacturing (or just build a 'better mousetrap' yourself!) cuz, you know, blockchain is an energy pig. I like those youtubes where some village in Siberia doesn't need heat anymore, and when hungry, they just huck a chicken or cow or whale in the room and voilà - dinner!now, as to blockchain's theoretical security, im calling BS. stick a 'hard fork' in that mumbledypants hokum. rt's max keiser (we call him 'keester' lol) is a complete looneytune, along with his dingbat sidekick, stacy ('spacey'). and they're just a public face for things blockchainus hypus, the private ones are even funnier.

It really depends on the consensus mechanism used. There are several blockchains that use proof of stake instead of proof of wotk, which means very low energy consumption.

Decentralized Blockchains are supposed to be transparent and not private. Permissioned chains are "private", but not centralized.

Blockchain is going to disrupt a lot of business sectors.

bitcoin is proof of work/hashcash derived p.o.w, no? (editorial comment; 'hashcash,' p-o-w. lol. sorry, couldn't help myself.) apparently, it is the poster child for my point, ie 'energy pig.' somebody somewhere makes veggie burgers, but 'burger' means beef. not trying to be flippant or insincere, but exceptions don't make the rule. I do agree however that blockchain technology can be another useful tool for logistics efficiency (cliff flippant sez 'so is a paperclip' lol), but I absolutely stand by my mockery of its' theoretical security. and, my spin on 'Blockchain is going to disrupt a lot of business sectors' is 'especially those wasting boku bucks chasing misunderstood ghosts down a rabbithole.' 5g anyone? but I digress.
in any case, good stuff. maybe some others here will weigh in. gracias.

I've been getting really into woodworking, and my favorites are:

Samurai carpenter
Third coast craftsman

.-.
I like to sail, so sailing videos, especially of solo sailors sailing across oceans

Wes Watson GP-Penitentiary Life

This guy is so intense, has crazy stories, and will make you never ever ever want to go to prison.

Casey Neistat: Amazing Vlogs and CT native grew up in New London shot a lot there.

Middle8: This really great music guy that breaks down the history of iconic albums and what not.

The Fourth LED ZEPPELIN Album

Half as Interesting: A really fun odd collection of random videos about everything

The Secret Protocol for When the Queen Dies

Matt Stonie: Just watcing this kid eat insane amounts of food.... I enjoy it way too much

20,000 Calorie Superbowl Challenge (Wings, Doritos, Pizza...)

So, just to clarify, 20k calories during Super Bowl Sunday is considered excessive?

First off, the kid was cheating himself by drinking diet coke. Knock down a 12 pack of beer (at a minimum) and you can easily cut out 2k of those food calories. A calorie is a calorie is a calorie. Why restrict yourself to just solids?

YouTube Channels are a thing?

My high school kids think Netflix and Hulu are old people TV. They literally just watch you tube videos. And yes, the "influencers" on those channels get paid well. Very well.

Yep. I was thinking that @businesslawyer's children (if any) missed this era. My 16 year old is all about YouTube. As for influence, remember Mincraft? Well PewDiePie did a Minecraft thing a month or so ago and now all the teens are playing it again.

Children are 32 and 28. I'm sure they know what YouTube channels are. But they're not older than dirt.

In the world of high school teenagers, 28-32 is the same age as 50. They're old.

Basically my age, when they were teens YouTube was still the wild west and there weren't "channels" like there are now. We missed that by several years.

Old YouTube is the best YouTube. It was mostly just uncensored skit humor

I just watch movie channels, interviews, and video game channels. Of course basketball highlights too.

Yes, but I know what they are too. You still probably didn't go through an era when those kids watched 90% YouTube instead of regular TV on the household TV. Even 5 years ago that wouldn't have been common.

I just watch guys who mountain bike. Seth’s Bike Hacks, Singletrack Sampler, BKXC

Too funny. I saw my 12 year old was playing Minecraft and watching the Minecraft videos after not doing it for a long time. Was wondering what spurred that change. Guess I know now.

Got really into Bald and Bankrupt lately. He's a travel vlogger. Goes to Russia, old Soviet Republics. Low on the editing but they're really, really interesting.

One of my favorites as of late is a pretty obscure one. It's run by a cousin of my sister-in-law and I think and it's called Preserve the 80s. He's a weird guy but fairly amusing and occasionally insightful. Most are related to either 80s commercials or fast food in some way. Here's one he did at Taco Bell a while ago that I think @Spokesbender might have posted on here at some point back when it was new.

Taco Bell Ramble

Doug is great. Have you watched The Straight Pipes?

Lots of Daddy Doug Demuro fans on the BY! Very nice.

Straight Pipes is also a great channel. If you enjoy Straight Pipes, you’ll also enjoy Throttle House. Similar cars, similar driving tests, similar personalities, similar quirks and features. Oh and they’re also Canadian.

Love fishing?

BlacktipH- incredible photography & monster catches. Goliath Grouper, Mahi, sharks, Snook, Tarpon, Bonita. Screaming reels.
