OT: Your Favorite Instrumentals

Another by Jeff Beck . . . . . the other old dude fender player on stage is pretty good too!

Melting Pot - Booker T and the MG's - right up there with "Time is Tight":

Take your pick of most Steely Dan songs, but Black Cow highlights their amazing horn section and the late Cornelius Bumpus' tenor sax solo at the 4:15 mark is butter!

If you're a fan of 70's artists, check this instrumental out by the relatively unknown group Full Moon.

The song is Malibu, joyful, melodic, and just plain beautiful:

When I set up my 1st real stereo (translation, spend a load more than I should have) in the early 70's my neighbor bought me over this lp. Just awesome!!!

Nothing ever sounds as good as the original, with maybe this exception...the guitar duet between Bramhall and White is extraordinary!

The Crusaders, so sweet and funky.

Sadly, except for guitarist Larry Carlton, I think they are all gone now:

The Happy Organ by Dave "Baby" Cortez
The In Crowd by The Ramsey Lewis Trio
Rebel Rouser by Duane Eddy
Telstar by the Tornados

From circa 1960 a couple of my "easy listening" instrumental favorites, often heard in the background of romantic scenes by the sea.

I liked them, and still do, because of their flowing serenity.

Here are the original artists, neither American.

Mr. Acker Bilk (English) - Stranger on the Shore
Percy Faith (Canadian) orchestra - A Summer Place

Seeing all the guitar stuff posted reminded me of this:

Count Basie - "The Kid from Red Bank."

Glenn Miller - "In the Mood" and "Moonlight Serenade."

Buddy Rich - "Channel One Suite."

Duke Ellington - "Take the A Train", "Satin Doll"

Maynard Ferguson - "MacArthur Park", "Birdland" and "Gospel John."

I know some will go "how old is he?" Well I'm retired and I play in a big band as lead trumpet. Started playing in jazz bands in high school and haven't really stopped. Also taught jazz band for 30+ years in the public schools. Once you start you just can't stop!

I've played all these songs and many, any more. My list could easily hit 100 numbers. As an instrumentalist, it doesn't get any better than this!

I have an incredible fascination with big band music. I love the 30s (the music, the movies, the decor). While I've never played anything, I find it hard to stop listening to the music once I start.
My contribution, I listen to a lot of jazz as well. This song is a favorite because of the song itself and the memories that it brings up.
