For me it's gotta be the last game we just played, but if not that one, I'd choose the New Mexico State loss in 2022. I really think that team was special, and RJ Cole deserved better going out.

It was a bullshit ass game. They shot 65% from 3 and we shot 30% from 3. If they shot 50% from 3 even, we probably win the game.

Michigan is the obvious answer. But yeah Mason since I was there and that’s another FF, 95 UCLA is a good one similar reason and Duke 1990 to lengthen the already dream season. culminating in FF and allowing Calhoun to not live with best coach to not get to final weekend for almost 10 years.

90 is the answer for me every single time. At that point the final 4 was the promised land that we had never been to, nor would we get to for nearly another decade. But of course, facing a UNLV team potentially might not have been pretty but you never know.

I was miserable about Mason and NM state, but the loss that I remember upsetting me most was a regular season game in 2017 against Auburn, who was good but not great at the time. We got slaughtered and it was after that game where I finally accepted that we were in trouble as a program. Felt like the end of an era.....till it wasnt

A month ago it would have been the Christian Laetner game but Mullins healed that wound.
The loss to Mississippi state comes to mind, I would have like to see Ray Allen end his college career on a better note.

1995. UCLA in the Tourney. That game still lingers in a dark place in my memories. We had them.

Yes, the recent Title game should be the answer, too, but we're already fat.

Since ‘95 UCLA has been mentioned a few times, I will go with ‘96 Miss State. I know Ricky was injured which might have capped how much further we could have gone but losing in the fashion we did (outmuscled, career games from their shooters) still irks me.

I'm not upset about the Michigan game, but that George Mason game still haunts me. Never heard of the university and would probably never remember them if not for that loss.

The dook (Christian Laetner) game was just as bad. I felt we could have won our first Championship that season if we had won.

This last one clearly. Would’ve given us 7.

Other than that, George Mason in 2006 is the next obvious one for me. Followed by UCLA in elite eight 1995. Followed by Florida in 2025. Followed by Michigan State in final four 2009.

Essentially ranked by best chance to win it all l, in my opinion.

Michigan is the obvious answer but I would say 1994 vs Florida was my most painful loss and that’s the game I would change. I thought that group was ready to challenge for a championship. #1 seed UNC was already eliminated and if Donyell hits just one free throw, all that stood between us and our first final four was #9 seed Boston College. If they pull out the Florida game maybe that’s looked back at as their “just survive and advance” game

The obvious choice is Michigan because it’s the only one that brings you a definite NC. The others only give you a chance. Think about the UNC game in Greensboro. If you win that and win the NC then Rip probably doesn’t come back and you don’t get the next one!

Interestingly, I was at the UCLA, UNC and George Mason games. Stopped attending figuring I was the jinx. Won six titles since then, Hmmm!
LOL. Was at the regional final losses against Maryland and Mason. Will not go to another. Wouldn’t even go to MSG in ‘14 against MSU.

Probably the Michigan State loss in the Final Four or the Mississippi State in the regional. In both cases i would of liked to see how our team stacked up against the eventual champ. I think we would of played 96 Kentucky if we beat Mississippi State and obviously we would of played UNC if we beat Michigan State. My amswer also assumes we somehow have a healthy squad. So im also asking the basketball gods to turn back the clock and reverse injuries.

Asking the gods to reverse this years loss is too much in my opinion. We reached the finals. We got to see how our squad stacked up against this year's best team. Thats enough.

I wouldn't change a thing. 6 National Championships in 25 years is amazing.
Well, there is 1 person who isnt quite as obsessed with ring culture as most of us here are.

Anyone here rank 2026 as more enjoyable than any championship years?

94 will be forever imprinted in my mind.

Young impressionable me wanted to cry after that game. If Donyell made more free throws we probably make the Final 4 that year.

That team was loaded: Donyell, Donny, Doron, Ray, Travis Knight, etc.
That loss might have hurt the worst out of all of them.

- Michigan 2026 (so close to #7)

- Michigan State 2009 (Jerome Dyson- could’ve possibly beat UNC if fully healthy)

- George Mason 2006 (Probably most frustrating loss because how much better we were)

- Texas 2003 (TJ Ford really got under my skin & game was in Texas)

- Maryland 2002 (cried like a baby- Caron’s hero performance)

- UCLA 1995 (Ray’s best opportunity)

Before 1991-1992- I didn’t watch because was younger than 5.
