BBN doesn't like how recent our success is. If only we had some hardware in the pre-64 team, pre-three point, pre-shot clock, pre-racial integration era, then maybe we'd be legit "blue bloods".

I really enjoyed this - comically of course.

"UConn has beat us twice when it mattered most in the last three years. Maybe we shut our mouths." The view to the top is most harsh the closer you get. It's nice to be on top. You can have your history, I'll take our future.

This is awesome!

Can anyone explain the Kentucky/Uconn yik yak feud? I haven't been able to find any details on it

Guess we'll have to settle for being the best current program.

That thread is just ignorance of northeast basketball. And people saying it's only been 15 years for UConn while they give OSU huge credit for Final 4s and NITs and Final 8s might want to rewind a bit and realize that it has been 25 years for UConn, not 15. 15 is when they started winning national championships, something that Ohio State hasn't managed to do in half of a century.

UConn has been tops now for half a quarter of a century. People are looking at Ohio State's 15 Final 8s over the span of 100 years and salivating, compared to UConn's 11. And if you think about it, this is just a UK's fan of deflecting the fact that they have 1 NC in the last 15 years to UConn's 4.

Whatever. Fans of the "blue blood" schools will obviously never want anyone added to their ranks.

Championships aren't the only thing that matters, but they're one of the most important measurements. And I'll take recent success over historical success any day of the week. I'm 27 and I can say that I saw all of our championship wins and I was old enough to remember them. That's worth more to me than 50-something years of tradition.

Guess you must be issued an official Blue Blood card to carry around in your wallet. Saying UConn was nothing before Calhoun, is like saying Duke was nothing before K, and Louisville was nothing before Crum. Nonsense.

At first night we all realized that Kentucky has a worldwide Snapchat featured story about their midnight madness (only because Drake was performing but UK fans think it was for the actual basketball) so we started posting on Yak that we should have gotten the snapchat Event because were the natty champs. Then all hell broke loose and we dominated them on Yik Yak just like we did on the court

This is the best:

"I think they've had more than their share (luck). They've been to 5 FF's. Four times they've come away with a title. The 5 FF's is not a fluke, but cashing in 4 times involves a lot of luck. "

Or, how about the winning formula of great coaching and dominant guard play. Instead of a dummy coach whose teams cant shoot free throws and who doesn't think he should foul down 4 with 45 seconds left (or whatever it was). Must've been luck what won us that game.

The lengths other fanbases go to knock us is truly extraordinary, and the arguments them come up with slaps conventional wisdom straight in the face.

Although what should we expect from people from Kentucky? Nobody has ever accused them of being the smartest or most sophisticated group.

This is my line of reasoning. UK can brag all they want about having 8 championships, but most of their fans probably weren't alive when most of those championships happened. 4 of their championships came from 1958 or earlier, and you would have to be about 74 years old to legitimately remember all of them.

I have actually been able to witness and enjoy each and every one of UConn's championships. I would't trade that for anything. The wait made everything better.

Hey… We can all appreciate a long, rich winning tradition. UCONN will never be able to point to basketball championships dating back to the 40's.

The Kentucky fan base will always win the "Blue-Blood" discussion so that is why they choose the bring it up on their forum (why not?)… UCONN's position in this blue blood community is certainly something we like to talk about.

Of course, the fact of the matter is most of the folks (if not all) talking about this rich tradition weren't even born when Kentucky was winning their initial championship (1948).

The UCONN Men have 4 National Championships & most of us have been lucky enough to witness everyone of them. UCONN (men's hoop) is the most successful program the last 16 years & it's not even close.

We win that argument every time...

Let's all keep in mind how stupid the UK fans look right now when we start bashing VCU for whatever.

I've never bashed VCU but that's really not a great comparison. I'll be shocked if VCU ever wins a championship, even assuming Shaka Smart never leaves for greener pastures (which eventually, he will).

I just think it's super tacky to talk about whatever people are saying on other message boards about us.

Watched the you tube of Jay bilas again. One of his best moments concerning u conn basketball. He has been more than fair when he talks about u conn.

3 times actually. Maui counts for something too.

didn't we beat them in the 2nd round of 06 too? I would say a win in the tournament is pretty damn important. Actually, I believe we are 4-1 against UK all time (at least in recent years), with them winning the most meaningless game.
