@tzzandrew your missing the general point. It doesn't matter if Michigan or Illinois goes all the way and beats Gonzaga. The point is that every team below the top couple was nothing more than the competition in every other conference. Beating Indiana, Minnesota, Maryland, Penn State, Nebraska, Rutgers, Northwestern, Purdue, Wisconsin, or Michigan State, should not have carried any more quad weight in the metrics than beating Georgetown, Marquette, or similar teams. 10-14 loss teams were considered good because of the supposed prestige of who they played. They didn't earn that respect with wins out of conference. As these teams lose to equal or lower seeds it does prove the point.
The reality is that this is the system that the NET showed. Fair or not. And KenPom.

Again, we think there was a flaw in the system. So be it. one game doesn't prove $ẖīť

So, just to be clear here, your actual position is that:

Ohio State normally shoots 21% from 3 and 50% from the line.

AND

A team that came in fifth at 12-8 in the Big Ten is wholly equivalent to a team that came in fifth at 10-5 in the Summit League.

Just think about this. Seriously. Why can't you just enjoy the beautiful randomness of the tournament?
Why can’t you just admit that Ohio St being a 2 seed and UConn being a 7 or Creighton being a 6 is completely laughable

Ok, fair points. Like you said, let’s just enjoy this, nothing like the NCAA’s

Well:

1. Creighton was a 5.
2. UConn got gifted a 7. They have the talent of a 3 or 4 and a resume of a 9. Ohio State vs. Oral Roberts has no bearing on that. The best team we beat was USC. Who the hell did Creighton beat?
3. Again, what the hell does this have to do with Oral Roberts winning? Are you trying to guarantee a loss tomorrow?

The NET also said Colgate was a top 10 team lol.

Dude, in a normal year I’d say you have an argument. But in a year when the conference’s only “quality” wins were in conference because they beat no one good out of conference, you have to take those rankings with a grain of salt.

If crappy Patriot League competition could make a 13 seed look like a top 10 team on paper, then if a conference is overrated as a whole, it will do the same for every team in that conference. Like it did for the Big 10.

Illinois won.

And I'm not sure what sort of lesson we're supposed to draw from an 11 losing to an 11 in OT other than the committee did a good job seeding.
Yep, forgot about IL.

But what do you do about Kenpom. Colgate was 86 in that.

Big Ten:

2. Illinois
3. Michigan
6. Iowa
9. Ohio State
12. Wisconsin
16. Purdue
31. Maryland
36. Penn State
37. Rutgers
50. Indiana
57. Minnesota
60. Michigan State
74. Northwestern
98. Nebraska

If the Big East had Pomeroy rankings like that and the media weren't slobbing our knob, everyone here would be posting their crying TikTok's about how Joey Brackets doesn't love us enough. They already do that and it was a down year for the Big East.

Again, your argument may ultimately be right, but your insistence on basing off of this is patently bad logic.

Like I said, I’m an idiot. But sometimes I am right. Lots of times I’m wrong. As long as UConn wins, I don’t really care haha.

Here’s what you won’t accept.

Flukes happen in the tournament all the time. Agreed.

A team gets super hot and shoot threes out of their mind. Or they get all the foul calls. Or the favored teams star player gets injured during the game. Nothing even close to any of this happened. All I saw was the better team, or at least the equal team, winning a game. ORU didn’t win because of miracles. This wasn’t to my eyes a fluke like the games you’re bringing up. They won because they had equal talent and squeaked one out.
Drake wasn’t as good as WSU but got unconscious with the three ball and outscored them 21-9.
The three ball is a great equalizer
Media likes to buildup teams but in BB the talent differences are nothing like football and can be made up by a hot shooting game.
The better team might win 7-10 games but they’re only playing once.
play badly and it’s over.
With a year with little OOC games a team can only be judged relative to their conference mates. That makes this years NCAA more unpredictable than ever.

+100. This "the Big Ten stinks" stuff could be really unpleasant to look at in about 28 hours.
It’s not that the B1G stinks, it’s that it’s fun to see hyped teams prove the hype maybe overstated.

I love to see it and will always root for an underdog.

But one game doesn't prove anything about a conference. If you don't believe me, check out the 2013 results in the Big East.
Could not agree more. I mean as long Rutgers is still playing the Big 10 has a shot...

Loyola is going to curb stomp Illinois on Sunday. Big 10 will be completely gone by the Elite 8. Frauds
Illinois is the one legit Big Ten team. I wouldn't count on this.

Why can't we just enjoy that the pundits aren't drooling over the blue bloods for once? I'd rather it be the BIG any day. Why all the angst? And yes, upsets happen every year. No Kyle Young today either. Seth Towns is a dud now.

Well when Ohio State is considered a “quality” opponent for other teams in the conference and their resumes, yea it is very important that they are overrated and can’t beat a team from the Summit league.
That team from the Summit league is a very dangerous team from a really good school. They have the top scorer in the nation and are well coached. OSU has been hobbled lately but at one point in the season they were probably a top 3 team.
watch out for Liberty also
