UMass defeats BCU in the battle for Massachusetts.

I'm old school and its time to play them again: Massachusetts vs Connecticut

Schools from yesteryear. Gtown and UNLV are up there too. Almost feels like completely different schools from when I was growing up. They are so irrelevant and forgotten about now.

BC is barely a mid Mac team in basketball and football.
Talked to a friend who is a BC alumni (and Duke law school so he’s got that). He said there’s a new President coming in. The outgoing President just didn’t care about athletics at all. So maybe they will make some investments and change things. I do think it’s better for UConn if BC is at least competitive.

Why would BC fielding competitive programs in a better league than UConn be better for us? Hey we've won 2 of the last 3 national titles, but just wait until BC fields an NIT caliber program and watch out.

Am I the only one who sometimes wonders whether ADs at our former BE rivals (BC, Syracuse, Pitt) wish they’d never taken the bait for all that football money and jumped to the ACC?

Off the top of my head, it seems as if their football teams haven't been consistently competitive, while their basketball teams have pretty much sucked. Maybe, instead of dumping the BE all those years ago, there should have been more of an effort to poach teams from the ACC and add independents, with the goal of building the BE to a “power 5” level football conference.

Anyway, it’s all water under the bridge at this point. Maybe BC should just ask Dr. J to help them recruit. 😳

BCU has been this this far more than anything else. Good hockey school.

Yeah I’ve heard this too, and while we like to kick them while they’re down now, I believe they have a pretty big endowment and some pretty rich alumni. If/when they get some serious NIL going, I can see them developing football/basketball. Knowing current Boston quite intimately, I know I would love to be a millionaire D1 athlete here; not only as a student, but after graduation/professionalism

That's also what Dana Barros told me.
