Thought of Giffey being almost 50 as a senior after being in the mid 30s. But that was more based on opportunity. His previous years were too low volume to draw conclusions from.
That's the closest I could come up with, but you're right, the volume doesn't match up. We know, though, that really good three-point shooters can have slumps, even prolonged ones. Why overthink it?

What is Mullins % on super long 3’s? He could cut those out because they have to be under 25%. Now I’m sure he makes those in practice but going forward..
Solo will get it back as long as injury is not the cause.

Unsure but hit one vs Creighton...I think Hurley likes when he does early in the shot clock because it's surprising and keep the defense stretched.

Thing is his range is the gym as Hurley and Mullin's old HS coach agreed.

It's crazy to want any of Mullins shots going down in volume. Silas and Mullins volume should be going up, Solo's should be going down.

When he is squared up and open, 100%. There is nothing at all wrong with form. Its a beautiful shot.
So it's yes, with conditions. I think I agree. But when he's not squared or open it's a no, even if one goes in on occasion. By now, my mind goes yes or no even before he releases it.

You want him to continue taking 30-35 foot 3’s? It’s 21 8” in the corner and 22 1 3/4 center of rim. Seth Curry shoots 36% from 30-40 feet and if Braylon did that then fine but he doesn’t I’m pretty sure. He gets more rope to go further than most of our players but just cut him back on the super long attempts or get him a closer shot. Hurley and the staff know his distance % for sure.

Current volume/game from 3

Solo - 6.5
Silas - 2.2 (down from 4.7 last year at GA)
Mullins - 5.8
AK - 4.5

Fairly apparently some of those Solo shots should swing to Silas to get closer to last year's volume. I'll give him credit, he's not forcing any and taking good looks. Solo should be around 5.

I want Braylon shooting more from everywhere on the court. Braylon gets more rope because he's by far our most talented shooter and one of the most talented shooters we've ever had. I want Silas shooting more in the lane and taking even more of the type of threes he's currently taking. I want Solo shooting less threes and driving more and taking more open middies.

I'm asking again, what is the precedent for a bad shooter having a fluky good season at high volume? I don't think there is one.

There's not. Hitting 99 threes, often under duress because our offense was gross, proves that you are a good shooter.

And you could see that he was a pretty good shooter. Andre hit 36% from three (61 attempts) in his sophomore year, and some thought that was proof he could shoot it a little. He hit at 28% in his junior year on 89 attempts, which seems a bit more on-brand.

Well if any player isn’t squared up/open, I would not be confident the shot is going in. Outside of a like, Steph Curry.

Would think the green light for Mullins is always on. Silas should take the uncontested 3 every time he is at a spot he likes. Donny said Ross has been working on the corner three. Lot of guys on that team very comfortable shooting the three ball.

If you listen to anyone, he had a poor senior season and dropped in the rankings. I'm sure Dan Hurley set expectations as well. I can't think he was thinking OAD in this class. I would wager to guess he'll hit the draft next year.

I see him as totally on the Clingan track. He’s been elite in the backup role this year and will be a friggin’ star next year. I confidently see him as a top 10 pick, with a legitimately possible ceiling being 1st overall.

Next year's draft is a total crapshoot based on who is sticking around this year and the fact the frosh class isn't all that strong. I'm not sure a kid like Mingo would even be top 20 in this years class. Stokes is probably the one kid that is destined to go high, and I'm not sure if he would be even top 5-6 in this class.

Every shot Mullins takes is a good shot.
Nope. A 35 to 40 foot 3 is not a good shot even for him, and even if he makes 1 out of 4 at that distance. JMO. That said I want him getting set up for shots all over the court and more than any other Husky, just not that far away.

What are you even talking about? He's obviously not taking shots from 16 feet behind the three point line and being set up for catch and shoot threes 16 feet behind the line.

He took a kinda deep one Tuesday - but only about 28-30. Thing is that he was squared up and it was totally uncontested (a guy flew at him late but didn’t affect the shot). It was a 30 point second half lead - so didn’t mind him pushing the envelope a bit there in a low risk situation.

Feel like he pulled one close to 30 early in his first start (Texas?) and hit it. Before some foul trouble. A couple times he seemed on his way to a huge day he derailed his own train with fouls.

Nice to be heading into St John’s after the last two.

Holding Carrol to 9 points was strong.

Pitino kept his starters in until the end was still pressing down over 30 with under two minutes left. Not a fan.
He's his Dad, but just a Little PissAnt in his case.

Again, indeed. Last season he was top 100 in three pointers attempted, but top 30 in percentage. That is exceptional. You can't ignore that like it was some kind of fluke.
He shot 31% in 24, 41% last year and 28% this year. The ‘24 + this ytd attempts are just a bit below last year. So y could say he’s got 1 year at < 30% and another at 41. Which is the real solo? Was last year the anomaly or is this year? Can he get hot…obviously. Is it guaranteed…no. Is it likely…who knows?

If anyone wanted some actual data instead of just blind complaints about Mullins shot selection, here it is. Spoiler, his shot selection is fine

Data is coming from here:

It does feel like Hurley has gone out of his way to get him minutes lately. There was a run there where we were playing close and his minutes were reduced sigificantly.

PC - 8
SHU - 7
Gtwn - 10
Nova - 13

Wonder if the rents got a little squeaky there. That's my guess.
Don't Reibe's minutes depend more on Reed's foul trouble in each game? Or that the last 2 games were blowouts which afforded Hurley the luxury of sitting Reed more?

Hard to know - was vague enough to be nothing. His camp having an issue would be surprising as I’m not sure what the expectation was. He’s getting 16.5 mpg behind an all league senior. If there is a problem then it would seem unrealistic. Clingan got less time.
I agree that if there is a problem then Reibe’s camps expectations are off-base. He knew and im sure was told in clear terms when he signed that Reed would be the starter this year.

I wonder if him being told, like Clingan, that they want him to play inside the lane, at the basket, is the issue. Not being allowed to use his full, stretch 5, skillset?
