Indeed. That's just a fundamental lack of understanding of how these things work. Those "0% chance" predictions on the likes of FanGraphs, for instance, just means that hundreds of teams had faced that exact score situation and so few of them actually ended up winning that prediction is 0%. I bet after they scored the first run it went up above 0%.
What is problematic here is why would he even mention it? Is it to motivate, or to assure family through media to be patient? You say "nothing to see here" as if you know for fact. Video suggests otherwise. Just a strange segment for the post game for Xavier. Moving on......
Again, indeed. Last season he was top 100 in three pointers attempted, but top 30 in percentage. That is exceptional. You can't ignore that like it was some kind of fluke.
Try not to - love the kids stroke. But last night he had a lot of open looks and missed pretty badly on them. He's shooting 28% - that is a really bad number.
Thing is still above 40% fg, 3pt % of 28.7 is closer to freshman year (31.9%) and FT % best season for him at 85.4%
My only caveat again is he is hurt. He is playing through it, but it is affecting his shooting.
What would be the precedent for that? A bad shooter having a fluky season where he kills it at high volume. Doesn't the opposite seem a lot more likely?

Even more reason to dial it back if an injury is throwing his long range shooting out of whack. The Providence game where he's noticeably grimacing and clutching his wrist while throwing up 10 3s was ridiculous. Attack the basket and try to get to your spots in the midrange.
I agree it is going great, but that doesn't mean there aren't feelings that it could be even better. If he had aspirations of being a one and done, it does not look to be that way. My point was that it was not a leap to conclude that Hurley was suggesting that Reibe and his camp should take a page from Clingan's playbook because it worked out well for him.
I agree. I also think that game without Mullins and with Stewart/Ross being super passive lead to a lot of those shots.
Wow Malachi Smith is averaging less than both Stewart and Ross. I know he has been very inconsistent but we need a little more scoring from him.
Yeah I like to see Demary and Mullins shooting more and Ball less. It seems like we still draw up the most perimeter plays for Ball and Karaban. I would love to see that being Mullins and Karaban.
We were first notified of an injury after the fall against Butler, he was shooting below 30% from 3 on high volume through 11 games BEFORE Butler. He also shot 2/15 from 3 vs Boston College and Mich State in the exhibitions games. I'm not saying Solo sucks or he shouldn't play, I'm saying at this point a sub 30% shooting 3pt shooter shouldn't be jacking up 3s at a high volume trying to find a 3 point shot that isn't coming back, score in the other areas of the game that you've worked on like finishing at the basket or pulling up from midrange. Solo was shooting mid range jumpers effectively earlier when his 3 point shot was broke, get back to that.
He was know as slasher coming out of high school. I wonder if he should go back to that as teams aren't letting him getting his feet set like last year.
I'm open to that idea, but keep in mind, when you ask a player to shoot more, their percentage generally goes down, not up, because they are asked to force it a bit more. Something tells me Mullins is less affected by the difficulty of the shot. He is good for an ugly shot or two each game but I am all for giving him more looks. I don't want Ball to drastically reduce his aggressiveness, but a little more discretion makes sense.
Well he could change how he approaches the plays that are called for him and instead of forcing 3s decided to attack the basket or dish the ball to someone who has a better shot. With the offensive players we have on the team there is no reason he should be forcing a lot of 3s if not really open.
I like Silas just as he was yesterday. Get everyone else going and if they're gonna leave him open he makes them pay. That's a winning formula for a Husky lead guard.

Yeah, but as I mentioned in another post I wouldn't mind Mullins shooting more than Ball. Also, I think Demary can definitely look for his shot driving more. That would help when a lot of our set plays go array because the defense stops the plays from working. Demary as well as Mullins to a lesser extent are really the only 2 players who have the real ability to create their own shots.
Agree 100%. Demary & Mullins should be in the drivers seat offensively and everyone else should play off of them. Easily our two most talented players.
