Xavier Post Game Thread

I don’t like Solo’s shot selection most games. He’s forcing and missing. However, I loved his last two plays of the game. He could have easily forced two more shots, which wouldn’t even have been bad shots. Instead, he passed to his teammates and got two nice assists. Donny basically said the same thing. Great overall performance by the team. Might be the first ever Big East team to go undefeated in conference play.

Gave Jaylin a lot of minutes. Giving him some slack and hoping he responds. He, Malchi, and Jayden could well put is in another dimension as we close out the regular season and head into the tournaments. I saw ALL of the Xavier players bending over and trying to get their breath when there was around 10 minutes left. You know Pitino has them in good shape too. Love how they are really starting to come on.

This is why KenPom and other analytics are not everything. Two games ago analytics told us we couldn’t have these performances and couldn’t win a natty (based on historical trends). Now, two games later, the analytics say we can.
Hmm. KP Offensive efficiency ratings go up when we run good offense and make the shots. Make it make sense. It’s almost like the analytics measure important things.

Did anyone have a 32 point win if you knew Alex and Ball would have 9 points each and shot 1-8 from 3? Imagine if they both had a good game.

Good to know they can score when some guys are off.

Reibe matching Reeds numbers with 5 fewer minutes is a good thing.

Weird that Mullins started out like a rocket then didn't do much for the final 30 minutes.

Defense is a good thing.

Braylon Mullins with 13 points? He had 12 5 minutes in!!!
Good thing about this team is that we have 5 guys who are all going to score around 15. Stop one or two and the others step up.

Great game but that flagrant on Malachi was garbage.
I have never seen a ref call something off of a replay that wasn't called on the floor, and in my opinion that's BS! If they called a foul on Malachi and upgraded it to a flagrant upon review, that's one thing, but there was no foul call on that play. Fanta and Donny said Hurley was challenging the out of bounds call. (And BTW, no, it was not a flagrant foul!)

It's like reviewing a catch/no catch in football and the ref says "oh by the way there was a facemask there."

Mabye there's something in the NCAA Rule Book specifically about flagrant fouls, but if it's not called on the floor, it shouldn't be allowed to be a new call based on a replay review.

Roll into Storrs South on Friday with absolute menace and intimidation on our minds. I want to paste two Pitinos in four days.

18 in a row. Stack. Them. Up.
They shouldn't admit it, but these last two wins have put St. John's on notice. They aren't catching us at a good time.

Did anyone else have any studio commentary from Peacock at halftime? All I saw was Super Bowl talk. Kind of disrespectful to the game at hand. Oh well. Not like they have much valuable to say anyway, but I like hearing the neutral media praise UConn.

No you didn’t

I don’t know about you guys but I liked the uptempo pace of the team tonight. Something I haven’t seen much in a long time. Maybe trend in this direction going forward depending on the opponent. I also sensed our guys enjoyed this type of style.

U might think im crazy but for various reasons we do not want St. John’s to lose to DePaul

There are reasons not to want it, but there are reasons to want it also. Putting SJU in a 2 game hole for the regular season wouldn't be a bad thing. Looks like it isn't happening anyway. SJU does play really good defense. Darling looks a bit sus though.

This is fairly prevalent in the NBA.

Smith played 15 minutes and I can't recall one positive play. That was a bogus tech but even that didn't go his way. I guess he had 2 rebounds but he seems lost out there. Not sure why Hurley waited until 2 minutes left to put in Millender. Seemed like a good opportunity to give him a look. Of course he air balled a corner 3 but would like to seem him get more opportunities in a game like this.
Malachi just had 12 and 7 off the bench in a tight win against PC, and he's shooting 48% from 3 on the year. He legit was our better point guard in our crazy non-con run when Silas was struggling. Yet, this board is obsessed with a D2 player who was legit brought here to be a warm body in practice and apparently be the commissioner of the players' College Football league. It's just bizarre.

He was so dominate early I was starting to wonder at what point does he become our best player? Seems we are not quite there yet but it feels like it is coming. Not sure why he sat so much in the first half. Wish Hurley played him more.
Hoping he’s just taking care of him.
