Xavier Post Game Thread

While it's fresh...I see foul discrepancy remains. Anyone have the link to that X post that has all the data to back up the claims of UConn having such a foul discrepancy? I have a million Xavier fans texting me and I can't find the study.
Let them have the win. You’re not winning anything by arguing bad calls.

We always play hard which is nice but there's just glaring holes on this team and they are badly exposed with no McNeeley. Fingers crossed he comes back somewhat soon or this will be a lost season. We're not getting close to enough from AK in Mc's absence and there's some guys on this team who aren't giving us anything in a lot of these games.

.-.
We are awful in the last shot situation because our entire offense is running movement/sets for a jump shot. We have no one currently playing who can create their own shot.
Pros and cons to emphasizing the offense that we do. It looks great when we’re on. But it’s not really helpful to developing guys to be able to create their own shot.

Defense is weak, slow and doesn’t have the dog in them. Karaban has time and time again gone ghost when we need him, it’s an expected at this point, and frankly it is pretty unforgivable.

They never get a stop when they need to, it’s either a foul or an easy bucket. Every game there are 3-4 players who just give us nothing.

The staff still can’t draw up an end of clock play. I understand the personnel limitations, but having Diarra always chuck it and now putting it in Ross of all players hands is pretty awful.

Look, when Liak comes back that helps heal a lot of wounds, but not all. Our defense is still going to be bad, and we still will lack explosiveness. The ceiling is not incredibly high and the floor is a lot lower than it has been. Hurley and Co. need to look in the mirror and figure out that a roster full of finesse players isn’t the way. Need to bring in toughness next year very badly.

White knight for him all you want. Jayden Ross is BAD
I don't blame him for the shot clock violation, but he should never have been in the game in that situation. But we all saw what we all knew about this team-UConn has no one that can create off of the bounce besides Diarra or McNeeley The plays are designed to get someone open, but when the play breaks down (Mahaney denied ball) you need a person that can ad lib and create

AM was the only player today that create for himself. Ball did his thing but we needed more. He could have went for 30. JS was bad. He needs to hope Danny hasn't given up on him this season. Ross isn't any better. We got nothing of the blocks offensively. TR was missing in action. Rebounding killed us. Giving up 3s and dribble penetration again a problem. Diarra played well. But has the lapses with the ball to many times. He freezes and stares. AK has had way to many bad shooting games and resembles the end of last season.

And still we're in the game. We wilted under pressure.

Awful game by Stewart but I’ll go out in a limb and say that he’ll be a productive player here. Can’t say that about Ross.

Based on what? I just don’t get it. He’s as bad as Solo defensively and he has more zero point games than double figure games. Why does everyone think he is so much more productive than he actually is? I just don’t get it.

NO ONE on this team hunts for a shot. 10-12 passes per possession for nothing, just to put up a contested shot with 3 seconds on the shot clock.

I wish Danny would put a max attempt on passes per possession. 5-6 passes and a shot, we throw the ball around and our offense looks crazy. WOW look at all that running and all those screens and all those cuts, just to put up a crappy shot.

I mean, it’s kind of amazing it was even close considering AK, Stewart, Reed, Ross and even Nowell in his limited time were all awful and Ball went a bit cold in the 2nd.

X allowed to hold and shove cutters all game. Danny’s last timeout took away and open drive by Mahaney
This is how the league has been for years. It is what it is. It’s not going to change. It disproportionality impacts us because of the offense we run but no one should be surprised that this is how they call it.

I'm telling you, between Ross and Stewart, there are minutes for Abramam. He can play and contribute.
Might as well but we don’t see him in practice and Hurley does so………

The only bright spot: Solo really carried this team for most of the game.

I'm curious why Danny did not use 2 bigs when we were down by 2, 72-74? does that not give us more rebounds and put backs?

X extended their lead when we went with the two bigs.

Solo carried us for a good portion of the first half, but he missed everything he put in the air in the second half

I have a hard time believing anyone who isn't cracking the lineup in the current situation is going to look any better

Shoutout Mahaney, Diarra, Samson, and Solo even though he was ice cold down the stretch. They came to play today

Stewart, Ross, Nowell, and Karaban were all extreme negatives but the top 4 kept us in it

So I’ve come to terms that we’re somewhere in the 25-40 range without Liam. How much does he lift us, and how much better does everyone else get when he’s back? Only time will tell

There’s a “get right” game on Wednesday, and then the fun starts. Let’s go huskies

Don’t think he’s played a second since the Trilly rumor

People were saying the same regarding Stew and Nowell early in the year. If someone is not playing it's clearly because they are not ready.
