Hurley won another close game! They kept fighting even though it was awful down the stretch... not to be that guy but whats the excuse for the crowd this time? Back to back champs, Big East Home opener, close game.... all i heard was lets go huskies at some points. Are the students too used to winning, or do they just not get "it", is it the the TV broadcast and it was wild in there, or is that a product of the XL center?

The students bring the juice.. in my opinion they didn't bring it today the way i'm sure a lot of people were expecting. Karaban, Hurley, the Social Media team, McNeeley, Diarra, pretty much everyone has said countlessly they need the fans. Hurley was outspoken when they went to Kansas last year and truly saw what court advantage looks like. Ready to be flamed but all you have to do is go back and watch replays of older teams to know what I'm talking about.
Fans should not be trying to influence the outcome on the court. That is very poor sportsmanship.

Yeah, mistyped, was referring to Ross. So Ross’ +/- was misleading, as he didn’t play offense.
Speaking of Solo, really good to see him trying to do more around the rim, although feels like he’s just not strong enough right now to make space in traffic and ends up flipping shots up there rather than going up strong. Chiseled guy but still looks a little light. Speed is likely never going to be his thing so could see an extra 10-15lbs in offseason helping him round out his game.

Xavier shot 50% 29/58. AND UConn blocked 10 shots, so subtracting 10 attempts that were blocked Xavier's accuracy was over 60%. That's crazy efficiency that has to be combo of hot shooting and defense lapses.

One of the issues is when open shots occur that allows players/teams to get confidence and make more difficult shots later = even occasional lapses feed have a degree of causality to teams shooting well vs the Huskies this year. Only in OT when maybe X ran out of gas and the defense was more vigilant did the shooting cool off.
X made many contested 3's. I'm not sure if you were watching the same game? If you watch the post game presser I posted with Coach Hurley post #268, he seemed very pleased with the perimeter defense in general. I don't think X ran out of gas as you say, more we hit some tough baskets down the stretch in OT. It was a well fought game.

Agreed, I thought it was very poor sportsmanship shown by the UConn fans yesterday. Dante Maddox Jr went to the free throw line with 9 seconds left in the biggest spot of the game, and the fans didn't quiet down and let him focus. And on some other possessions when Xavier had the ball the fans were yelling and Xavier players couldn't hear Sean Miller calling plays. Just a real black eye all around for UConn

Agree 100 percent
The thing about the non call on ncneeley
Is that it was in plain view not some marginal
Off the ball call
Really messed up what up until then had imho
Been a well officiated game
Ref knew he screwed that up. Immediately went across the court from the benches and one of the others put himself physically between he and Hurley lol and dude never went close to the benches again

Boy, you go back probably as far as I do.
Well, I saw "Animal House" first run, in a theater, after I'd already graduated college. I was born on the same day, in the same city as Delta house frat president Robert Hoover (or the actor who played him).

Like every other student section behind the basket does not try to distract the opposing team foul shot shooter? That is part of the fun while sitting there!

Ross: in 19 mins he was 0,2,0 with 1 steal, 2 blocks, 4 PFs and had a +/- of -13.

Can someone tell me why he deserves 19 minutes?
I'm thinking for his defense and to polish his offensive skills. He is long and athletic. I don't think he will always get those kind of minutes unless he steps up his offensive game. The other alternative would of been Mahaney. Not his type of game, he would of been a liability on D. Nowell will steal some minutes from Ross.

Lol. Yours is too obscure a reference for anyone else here, took me a moment. Plus you got autocorrected into "Rivers."

I had friends who lived in SAMmie House when the frat was collapsing or collapsed, and I knew people in Medieval House and Drama House. Even spent time in whichever frat was in Burton basement during freshman year, but my cohort decided Nope to joining. Early 70’s weren't strong Greek years, but Dekes were Dekes.

Here, I was noting @ThetaZoo 's avatar and referencing Jamie (James) Widdoes, born 11/15/53 in Pittsburgh, PA.

I think you misunderstood or misread my post, my point is just one open shot can build confidence and lead to tougher contested makes. And in Miller’s post game presser he said they (X) were worn down by the end.

This has already answered. We are almost the worst team in the country in defending the three. He is our best perimeter defender. Go back and watch the game whoever he covered suddenly got cold for the most part. So what he does best perimeter defense is what we as a team does worst. In a game like Xavier it is not a surprise.
