Good points. This is tremendous news for our program!
I have also posted that I think this is a good move for Bell.
He’s a star here…
He gets tons of media coverage..
NFL Scouts are watching him….
He won’t be wondering if he’s starting or will be a regular target for the QB.
He’s got it all here if he’s trying to play on Sundays….
We also need a QB who can deliver the ball where the receivers can catch it and do something with it. Not sure who that is based on what Evers showed and the others being a mystery right now.Exactly. If they can get another good WR that has potential and some big game experience, cool, but that isn't the first priority. They need to replace the 2 very good tackles they will lose as well replenish the DLine and LBs. Replacing those positions need to be the first and second priority.
Michigan side seems to be taking this well…
I actually think most of his drops are a result of starting to make his move before he has secured the ball. He is a big YAC guy so I kind of get it. It is also correctable for a young WR like him. Like @JMick said, need QB play to be at minimum as good as JF. For those that crap on JF, he is only the 2nd QB in our FBS era to throw for 20tds.Hence mu dilemma. Sometimes "very good" is better than "best". He is the best WR UConn has had in several years. But I don't think he is great or unreplaceable. He's good, but has room to get better.
There some good crow recipes on the internet. Bona potite![]()
I said I'd eat crow if he came back and proved me wrong and saying we had no shot after the UM news came out. I'm loving it!!!!
JaredGuy or a UM insider Plorobably broke the law ( FERPA) disclosing that information and possibly committed libel if not true. Skylar just his NIL lottery ticket.@EJHollandOn3 Skylar went to The Taft High School, one of the most prestigious and difficult to get into boarding schools in the entire country. Not a chance he wouldn't get accepted to Michigan. BTW, thanks for Tarris Reed! @JaredGuyThomas @CalhounColonelx.com

I thought that’s why gloves were worn, for rain. People here mentioned not wearing them as a possible reason for his drops. That was for half of ONE GAME where he was gloveless and it was because it was raining.

hey you are not the only one who thought he would be gone, i was right there with you. I hope nothing changes between now and his start in the Fall of 2025!![]()

Preach brother! I think some of us on this board tend to see how top level college teams perform then compare what we have to those teams....which in actuality is unfair. This is arguably the first time (since Edsall left the 1st time) where we actually look like might be building something sustainable. I sure hope so anyways.I think Bell is even better than most people think. I've seen him make devestating cuts that get lost on a telecast. He's a star. His staying sends a great message but his play on the field is even better.
Practice squad and then cut....In fairness he ended up in the NFL, I don’t think they exactly hurt him there.
The drops are a focus issue not a skill issue. He is an elite receiver.
Just FYI, got to try them on a couple of visits to Uconn spring games. Good article here on why so many can now make one handed catches. NFL yes but college trains the same. One player mentions training with the Juggs bare handed but always wearing them in a game. How sticky gloves have become NFL receivers' most trusted sidekicksI thought that’s why gloves were worn, for rain. People here mentioned not wearing them as a possible reason for his drops.

Tons of players fix drop issues. It's not an insurmountable obstacleIt's still a drop. And even you're not nuts enough to declare fixing focus is easier or more assured than fixing skill.
And sometimes they just reappear. Watched George Pickens drop two right in hands yesterday. Would've been big gains. Cincy WRs dropped nothing.Tons of players fix drop issues. It's not an insurmountable obstacle

You basically said Michigan wasted him. I noted he played in the NFL (he was on active NFL roster with Chargers last year) and it’s not like just because you play at UM a team drafts you in the 5th round. Could he have had inflated numbers at UConn? Sure, but from his personal perspective he would have still had the same end game.Practice squad and then cut....
Very good points about what commitments mean. But you forgot one more defacto period. The remainder of the season after four games in.I echo these sentiments. Once he declared, I thought he wouldn't return. I was wrong, for the time being, for which I say based on what Yates pulled. I'm hearing The Clash's sing "Should I Stay out Should I Go" playing in my head.
What @Jetskies wrote has been on my mind for a while: commitments now don't mean much to me if they can re-enter the portal come Spring. I'll be truly happy when I see him dressed in UConn Huskies gear in August... until then, it's like waiting for a doctor's phone call about a test result. I'm hoping for the best, and that next year he lights it up for us.
How is catching passes not a skill? It's still a drop. And even you're not nuts enough to declare fixing focus is easier or more assured than fixing skill.
