WR Skyler Bell returning for 2025

You act like we have a recent history of WRs who can actually get open and catch most of passes thrown their way.
Exactly. If they can get another good WR that has potential and some big game experience, cool, but that isn't the first priority. They need to replace the 2 very good tackles they will lose as well replenish the DLine and LBs. Replacing those positions need to be the first and second priority.

I said I'd eat crow if he came back and proved me wrong and saying we had no shot after the UM news came out. I'm loving it!!!!

Glad he's returning but I want a true #1 WR added in the portal. Someone who drops less passes.
He is a true #1. If Fagnano played the whole year he probably gets 10+ TDs. He was good for a drop or two a game but I'm sure he'll be working on it. This is the biggest "recruiting" coup we've had in years.

He must think there's gonna be someone to throw him the ball besides Evers so either this bodes well for Welliver or we're working on getting a new QB

Now let's get this man a QB or get Welliver up and running if the staff feels he's the one. We saw what Bell could do with a hodgepodge QB make up this season. I'd love to see him with an accurate, solid QB1

I just can't see him coming back if Evers is QB1. He was visibly frustrated with him multiple times and I figured besides money that was the biggest reason he wanted to transfer

There are about 10 WRs in college football year in and year out that don't have much more than a couple major flaws in their games. The dropping is an issue but if you want a guy that drops fewer passes, you'll be losing something like the YAC and separation ability Skyler has, because if they had both they'd be a top 5 or 10 portal WR. Would look into our recent signee, Reymello Murphy. Pretty good at ODU before getting buried in the depth chart on a team that featured Tetairoa McMillan.

Gaithings, I think, has that kind of potential...I'd be happy to see us scoop up one more portal WR that has actually shown production at his previous school(s) too. And, finally let the younger pups get out there so we can see what they can (or can't) do

You are one of the silliest posters ever. You exhibit little knowledge and clearly have a man crush for JF. But just a reminder ……

"Nick's my guy," Bell added with a smile. "I probably didn't get as many reps with him. But Nick is like a brother to me and we're really close. I recruited him hard to try and get him to come here so I'm glad he's here. We're making a lot of plays together."

Man crush on JF? No, I just have eyes. Bell was visibly frustrated when Evers routinely missed him on wide open passes. It wasn't a one time thing. It was happening all the time. Just watch the games.

This is tremendous news for our program!

I have also posted that I think this is a good move for Bell.

He’s a star here…
He gets tons of media coverage..
NFL Scouts are watching him….
He won’t be wondering if he’s starting or will be a regular target for the QB.

He’s got it all here if he’s trying to play on Sundays….
Remember what happened to Ben Mason at Michigan. He was a dominant player on both sides of the ball at Newtown H.S. went to Michigan and they made him a blocking fullback. Imagine the career he could've had at UConn?

Hence mu dilemma. Sometimes "very good" is better than "best". He is the best WR UConn has had in several years. But I don't think he is great or unreplaceable. He's good, but has room to get better.

i want to celebrate with everyone, but there are too many transfer portal windows in this system.
Just like with open enrollment for your employee benefits, there should be 1 window a year.

AFTER the stinking bowls. Literally the day after the CFP Final.
hold it open for a month and whatever happens, happens.
Close it before spring practices start.
Once it's closed, you're stuck for another year, unless you appeal (there should be an appeal/exception process, i suppose).
that's it.

this system is just a recipe for heartbreak and frustration.
apologies to all, but I can't celebrate until after april.

In fairness he ended up in the NFL, I don’t think they exactly hurt him there.

I just assumed he was gone. Glad he isnt
I echo these sentiments. Once he declared, I thought he wouldn't return. I was wrong, for the time being, for which I say based on what Yates pulled. I'm hearing The Clash's sing "Should I Stay out Should I Go" playing in my head.

What @Jetskies wrote has been on my mind for a while: commitments now don't mean much to me if they can re-enter the portal come Spring. I'll be truly happy when I see him dressed in UConn Huskies gear in August... until then, it's like waiting for a doctor's phone call about a test result. I'm hoping for the best, and that next year he lights it up for us.

Does Mora have $6 mill in his pocket? Lol

Yes hopefully this holds with Bell, in the meantime let's go get him another receiver to pair him with, let's keep adding more talent keep adding to the NIL.
