Wow, did Auburn get hosed?

I'll never understand how people don't get you can't foul jump shooters. Even if they just brush you it effects your shot. Guy went straight up and the defender undercut him.

Virginia was gifted the title game but people don't seem to know what a foul is.

Say what you will about what happened beforehand but that was a blatent foul on the shot.

AT least in hindsite, neither of those were difficult calls. It absolutely was a foul on the three pointer. You want to argue the ref should swallow the whistle there on a glorified chuck, fine, but it was absolutely a foul.

And it was an obvious double dribble. I screamed at my wife for it live. Blown call and, frankly, a choke by the refs, who saw what happened and couldn't process the violation because it was an unusual play and they were anticipating a foul.

I don't see how anyone can rationally argue either of those.

Have to be honest, I completely missed the double dribble, thought it was a loose ball he picked up, saw it hit his foot but it just didn’t register. But definitely a foul on the jump shot by Guy.

However, Virginia winning means I win my office pool, so ...

I was thinking that Jerome should call timeout when he recovered the loose ball. When he picked it up and dribbled I was really confused since nobody seemed to be arguing the missed call.

Even the shooter didn't seem to know. Kid didn't even try and argue for the call, just started walking away, upset that he missed. A strange reaction in an era where everyone seems to try and get a foul call any way that they can.

He knew he got fouled.

My sister spells "excellant," and you spell "blatent."
Perhaps someone believes this "definately balinces" things out.

Teller, not a speller.

She detach both her retinas in the last 12 mths too?
Nah, but she's working on some kind of mystery nerve-muscle thing that I hope is minor and in no way compares with your ordeal.

I hate seeing a team win on the free throw line and also hate seeing a weak call go against either side on the last play of a game.

The mantra seems to have been to let them play it out over the past couple decades but the “emphasis” they put out of the comp committee every year has made the ref job more technical and less situational.

It was a foul, but a small foul. You can argue either way and be mostly correct and that is a crappy way to close a FF game.

my sister and daughter are both ridiculously good at spelling. a gene that skipped me.

My sister is confident and accomplished, and happily sticks w/"excellant." Not even worth offering something like an "e is for excellent" mnemonic.

I can’t spell environment without google - but I’ll take being good at numbers over letters. Pays better.

What the heck was that defender thinking? Guy was moving laterally and backwards to attempt an extremely low % shot for the win, and you're all closing in on him and out of control in the air.
Somebody has got to be screaming, "don't foul the 3 point shooter!" from the time the ref hands the inbounder the ball until the buzzer.

Feel for the kid who fouled.

I was at a comedy show and missed all but the last 8 minutes of the MSU-TT game but saw replays. How the hell do they miss that double dribble 3 refs disgusting. As far as the foul, no doubter can't ignore in any situation he walked under him and hit him in the midst of Guy shooting a 3. It changed the shot so one will never know if he would've made it without the foul but let's be honest, stay away from the shooter if you're not there with a hand in that face - wtf these kids are stupid happens too much.

The Virginia story has more clout than Auburn from the NCAA perspective.....but what is real, is neither of these teams have a shot against Texas Tech.....unless there is help once again to prolong the story.

Missing that double dribble call was just brutal. A stoned, hungover high school kid reffing for beer money will make that call in a 4th grade girls rec league game. It wasn't like the ball handler was in traffic and the refs didn't have a good angle, he was in the middle of the freaking court when he did it and all 3 refs should have seen it.

The foul on the 3 pointer was both obvious and deliberate, and that is on Pearl. The Auburn defender deliberately bumped the shooter down low to alter the shot, and he was probably coached to do that.

Funny...ESPN says , "The foul call that will forever overshadow the Virginia-Auburn classic".
Not so much. No one cares....in a few days it will be old news. World we live in. I mean we move on from real news in hours or days.

What bothered me about that headline is it should be about the double dribble. It was a foul, get over it and stop fouling jump shooters ya dummies! The egregiously blown double dribble call gets a pass though?
