I know it's a different conference and all but they are the perfect counterpoint to these recent threads.

1. A very lackluster regular season. A regular season we would all be very disappointed in.
2. A Coach whose actions were more egregious than Hurley's ejection and comments.
3. But 2 tourney wins.

Do the tourney wins wipe everything clean? Is this what we want?

Michigan was a pre-season Top 5 team that underachieved all year. They've got players. The tournament is a chance at redemption for some teams. Some go out with a whimper, and others do damage.

Ok with me if Michigan wins this year... prefer them over most of the teams left besides St. Peter's and maybe Purdue. Don't want to see PC or Nova win that's for sure.

As far as trajectory of the program, you have to look big picture. The random nature of the NCAA Tournament can make or break your season, and a lot of times that is not fair. I think a lot of it has to do with expectations. You take our 2005-2006 season where we lost to George Mason in the Elite 8, compare that to our 2002 team that also lost in the Elite 8, but to the 1 seed Maryland, and 100% of UConn fans will say 2001-2002 was a better season.

The reason we are all sour right now is becaus le we lost in the first round…again, to a lower seeded team. Upsets in the tournament are going to happen, It’s a guarantee. Some of the best coaches to ever walk the sidelines have been upset in the NCAA Tournament. With that said, you have to choose our situation over Michigan.

Sure They had a disappointing regular season but Just last year Michigan won the big 10 regular season chip, was a 1 seed, and made it to the elite 8. That’s 5 tourney wins and counting over the past 2 seasons. Howard has also brought in a couple 5*s.

The specific year? No.

But this is their worst year since JH has been on board and they’re still going to the sweet 16 because he’s a good coach. It’s not like we won a conference championship or anything to hang our hat on in the regular season either.

Idk if I could justify wanting to be 17-14 rather than 23-8. Or being an 11 seed rather than a 5. You must largely be basing this off of this 2 game stretch

Easy answer is yes, this is uconn we measure our program using the tournament and championships. Kentucky has been a “better” program than us last 15 years but we have the hardware none of us would rather be Kentucky

Would I rather have 2 tournament wins? Yes. We didn’t care about how poor our regular season was in 2011 (or 2014 for that matter.)

This is kind of a weird concept to me because obviously we would all rather be in the Sweet Sixteen and it’s not even like UConn was that dominant - 23-10 while being 2-6 vs the Kenpom top 50. Give me a rockier season with a better ending every time.

Rather be in the 16 no doubt. But only a B10 team at 17-14 gets in they were not deserving. Making the committee look good? Yep but they can’t lose bad enough for me next week.
