Wagner coach Dan Hurley, son of legendary St. Anthony’s High School coach Bob Hurley Sr., on UConn: “As a high school coach at St. Benedict’s, as a player at Seton Hall, as an assistant at Rutgers, Coach Calhoun is one of the people I admired. I always admired his program. It was a program that my dad talked about. He respected him as a coach. My dad doesn’t respect everyone as a coach, trust me.”

I know i dont think Uconn has ever had a St Anthony player. Thats why i was kind of surprised that Bobby Hurley has that much praise for Calhoun. Hes never sent any of his kids on to Uconn.

Hurley uses every UConn drill in the book. Every one of 'em.

But whenever I used to see a kid from either his or his kid's program, I wouldn't put any stock in it because there was no chance of it happening.

One story I heard was that he didn't think his kids would react well if they were playing under a 'screamer' of a college coach. Dunno how true it was.

Fishy, that seems so strange since Hurley is a madman on the sidelines just like Calhoun.

I agree.

The player in question was a top-40 player went to a much 'milder' coach, did not improve much over four years and is now doing something other than playing basketball for a living.
