Not quite so funny, but many years ago there was a game on National TV where Purdue and its star Rick Mount were playing. He had the reputation of being the best pure shooter in college ball at the time. He took a jumper from about the top of the key that went over the backboard clean as a whistle.

Don't remember. Only saw him on tv a few times in the prehistoric days before tv supersaturation. Now Hal Greer I remember jump shooting foul shots.

Another great recent video that was taken down quickly (copyright reasons), was of the guy who took and missed 4 layups, one after the other, until a team mate stopped him from shooting. He was shooting at the wrong basket.

I never had a shot that missed that bad, but I had foul shot attempts that were as embarrassing. I had a very late growth spurt and as a freshman I was the third smallest in my grade, including all the girls. I would fervently pray each game that I would not get fouled, for my foul shot amounted to standing by the back of the key, rushing up to the foul line, and heaving the ball at the basket. Adolescence can be a trying time.
