I thought of SPADE much earlier but didn’t use it for the same reason you had reservations about SLAVE.

Yes, I had misgivings about picking those two back to back but I never thought of SUAVE and it was eliminated anyway, so there was nothing left. It’s a shovel and a suit in cards, it should be a perfectly fine word.

Oh I agree and am well aware of its proper meanings, but I have been surprised by similar words that are not accepted for Spelling Bee.

Yeah I know you know them, it’s just sad sometimes when words aren’t acceptable due to some other possible usage. I’m glad this one was ok, just wish we didn’t need to wonder if it was.

This particular case was kind of a tough choice on whether to use the eliminator word or not. If I hadn't, I think I'd have still had a 2/3rd chance of getting it in 4, and a 1/3rd chance of getting it in 3. Which isn't bad, really.

I have used it as a starter word a few times. Probably one of my best chances for a 1.

Damn. In the 93 games since the reboot I've got 6 fours but haven't sniffed a three. Didn't have any threes the first go round either.

It's especially impressive since one of today's words was an S plural, which isn't very common.

Never had a 4 or 5 in Quordle either.

Xordle 15 fours in 147 games

xordle and their clue provided no letters but got 1 word on the first guess and 3 letters on the 2nd guess.

The bot said QUIRK was the only word left after my second guess today, so you're probably right.
