Assigned start word. We are now in a March Madness style tournament. Mine don't count as I got the only Bye due to my absurd -10.

Given that you're way more efficient than them at this game, do you think that any of those people in your Wordle pool doubt your prowess? Like, that they maybe think you're looking up the answer ahead of time, and making just enough guesses that it doesn't look too suspicious? LOL

Seems the start word helped big time today
Yes, I think so. Adding W and eliminating R and S was huge. There were some non WH choices, but I went with the most likely (plus my 2 vowel rule).

Talk about your bad start words. And yet, no S or M meant I needed an A - E word that cleared a useful letter like L. I was fairly sure PLANE had been used. It felt like most R and T words would be AI, so if A hit that was next.

It's a helluva guess, but I'm not sure I follow the strategy. If your goal was to remove the most common letters left (LNTR) there were several options that wouldn't use riskier P or C (also keep in mind D and G are 2 pt Scrabble tiles while P and C are 3 pointers). Hell, "later" clears 3 of them. "Navel" clears 2. You chose to clear one.

Didn't think of LATER. Did think of CATER. I'm not aware of commonality between letters like P, C, D & G. Those all seem about the same to me. B and F as well.

Ultimately, when I am looking at using A & E, I consider the most common placement in slots 3 and 5, not slots 2 and 4. So that's step one. Those vowels in those spots. Note this is important for I as well, since it can fit in slot 4 behind the A or in slot 3 with the E in slot 5. So vowel placement was #1. Then I picked consonants after. My mistake was thinking PLANE was used, I checked and it has not. PLATE had been used (it was also a better guess than PLACE).
