Woodson out

Another older coach exiting. You won't see coaches older than 65 in the future. The salaries are too great to be worth hanging on too long and tarnishing their reputations.

Going to be an ugly -lame duck end of season. It's really not a team - it's an NIL experiment. Wonder where top recruit Trent Sisley ends up.

Purdue is my guess

Maybe if they move the university to New Jersey.
I can’t think of any other place that Hurley and his wife would hate more than Indiana. Lol. It’s just not him.

I could see Knicks, Celtics, nets, Philly for nba. For college, UConn, Seton Hall and Rutgers.

Just to be clear, you could see Dan Hurley coaching Rutgers? That's something you could see happening?

Indiana is really just another program at this point. Tom Crean, Archie Miller and Mike Davis are really good to good coaches, and Sampson is one of the best ever, and none of them have done much since Knight left. And honestly, Knight's last 7 seasons were mediocre (Knight stole a Sweet 16 bid with a meh 1994 team). THREE Sweet 16's in the last 30 years. Xavier has eight over the same period.

Any reputational advantage that Indiana had is gone with NIL. It gets a lot of revenue from the Big 10, but it is a rural university in a state with modest economic resources and there are a lot of city schools that can compete for talent.

Purdue is pretty loaded with only 1 Senior on their team. Next year's Purdue team will be stronger than this year's team....which so far has over delivered.

IU athletic dept really has unlimited economic resources- so money is not an issue. This year's team was the worst money can buy. Mark Cuban can always write a check.....

Disagree on that one. They’ve got a huge fan base, huge NIL budget, and are first and foremost a basketball school (yes, I understand they had a great season in football). If they hire the right coach, that program turns around quickly.

If that is true, then every top coach should be stampeding to their door. We will know soon enough.

I mean, the UK search clearly shows that’s not true. Don’t think anyone would suggest UK is just another college program but they still struck out on all their top targets. I think there’s plenty of folks that don’t want the media attention that comes with the IU job or are just comfortable where they’re at. That doesn’t mean IU is just a job, the landscape for coaching moves has just fundamentally changed.

Pitino is doing alright in his 70s, Izzo has Michigan State in the top 10. Bruce Pearl and Rick Barnes aren't young guys, people make too big a deal about age, coaching matters, all those guys mentioned are HOF coaches, people really think Calhoun couldn't coach in this era your out of your mind.

Why? UM is nothing to sneeze at, big brand and likely less pressure with plenty of support. Not sure what he’s gaining bolting UM after a year.
he was an alum and manager at indiana under bob k....and word on the street is IU basketball has a bigger NIL pool than UM.

He got two of the best portal bigs this past year and the Auburn kid. Seems they’re doing ok, but I guess I hear what you’re saying. You have to make the call but doesnt strike me as the kind of guy who would run out of a great one year gig.

With Goldeb pulling off the big win at Auburn and young I wonder if he gets a strong look

I know he just signed a contract pretty recently but McDermott has to be an option
