Of the15, 4 juniors, 2 sophomores and a freshman, it won't be a great draft, excpt for those who get Boston

I also have problems with Haley Jones. She just does not seem to live up to the hype she started with. She can be great at times, but other times not so much. I don't think I would take her #2 in the draft, even her game is better suited to the WNBA.

she 's not always the player she could be
that's a thing I like about UCONN, when you're not the player you could be, you bench
That's a thing I don't like about UCONN, it seemes like Amary wills to be another player than the one she's thought to be, BIG FAN OF AMARY here

It's a very solid draft. Several players that can be real impact players if they get the right fit like a Jones, a Joens, a Seigrist or a Miller to name a few.

IMHO, I think award lists are sometimes a carry over from the prior year. If you were good, but not great enough to make one of the lists, or an underclassman on the list, then you are on someone's watchlist. In Lou's case, she came "out of nowhere", so to speak, most likely wasn't on anyone's radar, and by the time she started getting noticed, the national media narrative was already baked in. For instance, do I think Boston is the best player this year, no, but it's close. Depending on what a voter's perspective is on what's most important, I can see why some are backing Clark. Similarly, I think Aaliyah built up some hoop capital at the beginning of the season, however all eyes were more on Boston, Brink, and other similar skilled players.

I don't even think Hailey Van Lith has been the best option on her team recently. Hasn't Carr been doing all the dirty work?
Not really. Carr has been every bit as up and down as Hailey Van Lith has. Robinson is the player that does some of everything, some of which doesn't show up in the box score. If that's what you mean by the dirty work, it's definitely Mykasa doing it for the Cards.

How is her game better suited for the WNBA? She's a guard who is horrendous offensively outside of 8 feet, with limited athleticism. She is big and has a diverse skill set, but if she can't shoot and she can't defend WNBA SG's and wings, what is she going to do in the pros?

Early hype seems to go a long way in sports. Stays with players even when they're not getting results that caused them to get recognized in the first place. Jones is not consistent at making shots.

AE is very deserving of everything she gets. She was been the most dominant player all season and always draws the toughest defensive assignment. Lou has had a great season and so has Nika but it is very difficult to have 2 players in the top 15 on any one team.

I am very excited to see what UCONN looks like this weekend after a couple weeks of good practice with Azzi and Caroline.

That's staggering to me.
If Reese isn't on the list, it's because the list has a GPA the player has to have. I know one of the lists is like that. It was a thing on Reddit/Twitter unfortunately

Haley Jones clearly is remarkably and mystifyingly poor at three-point shooting, and not a whole lot better from 15-18 feet. She will need to upgrade those skills for the WNBA.

In spite of that, she's shooting 43 percent overall from the floor this season, higher than a lot of people who have better shooting reps. Hailey Van Lith, for example, is shooting 40.5 overall and just 29 percent from three, in about 150 more attempts than Jones, and yet has a reputation as a shooter and scorer.

Could it actually be what you term 'early hype,' ctkaiser, regarding Jones is more valid than many might now believe, and Van Lith's reputation far exceeds her actual performance?

By the way, I love Lou, but the Huskies' sharpshooter is shooting just 46 percent overall. For sure, many attempts are from longer range, but I'd still argue Haley Jones is a darned good bet to help her team offensively (as well as defensively).

And ucbart: 'limited athleticism?' Are you kidding?

Haley Jones is 3-31 from three (9.7%) and 171-373 from two (45.8%). Overall 43.1%

Lou is 67-155 from three (43.2%) and 114-237 from two (48.1%). Overall 46.2%. All were higher against the toughest opponents on the schedule
