For those of you who like to watch other teams play ( there seems to be quite a few on this (board), tomorrow night from 6:00 pm til 10:00 pm the SEC will have a Whip Around, jumping around from game to game to show the progress of different games played tomorrow. I believe SC will be one of the teams playing. It will be shown on SEC Network. Maryland and Nebraska will be on Big Ten Network. Just an fyi for those who like to watch women's basketball, especially teams that are competing with UCONN.

I'll have it "taped", yes, I know there is no tape involved.

In any case, I can't imagine watching it all, or watching it live (for any conference), but the availability to get a look at multiple teams is kind of cool.

Waquoit - it is always interesting how some fans are fans of their home school and some of the sport in general. The most pointed example actually involved WVB - there was briefly a fan club at Rutgers some years ago. As fans of VB we offered to bring a tape featuring final 4 highlights and were told - "who cares, this is a fan club only for Rutgers WVB" or something of that sort. Noticed the same thing with some women's basketball fans.

Geno says UCONN fans are just "fans of winning"

"I'd rather have a frontal lobotomy than a less-e-c slumber battle in front of me."

Sure... who wants to watch top 25 SEC WCBB teams play dull tightly contested, down to the wire games when we can just get our fill of thrilling 60-point UConn blowouts over Tulsa, Cincy, etc.

Geno's comment is very accurate for a lot of the UConn fan base.

Putting down an entire conference?

It's a rare SEC contest that I can get through. The SEC is the league that can't shoot straight. If it's a celebration of "athleticism" you are looking for, go to a track meet. Basketball is far more than a bunch of lanky 6' plus woman raunning around bumping into each other. Plus SEC games involve having to listen to the cheer leading drivel about how there is never a night off in the SEC - that was incessant as SC destroyed hapless Arkansas!

I've yet to see an SEC game this season that didn't have a mortifying display of offensive ineptitude. And no, it wasn't any defense that caused players to miss uncontested lay ups or throw the ball out of bounds.

South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Kentucky, There will probably be a good contest on every week. The PAC 12 is very competitive as well. UConn got the proverbial short stick when it came to conference realignment and being stuck in the crappy AAC.

AAC teams have beaten a bunch of sec teams this year. If Uconn was in any other league they would beat almost every team by at least 40 points.Tulsa won their first two league games by two points each,so there are close games by inept teams in every wcbb league. If i had to watch less than stellar basketball being played i would at least rather watch it being played by teams that are in the same league as Uconn. My god Lsu lost to Maine and at least one AAC team.Arkansas lost to Tulsa and Florida lost to Temple. The only difference in the Pac 12 is that Stanford and Cal. aren't as good as usual so more teams have a chance to be league champs.

Have you seen Tennessee's offense? Putting Tenn's offense in the same sentence as "good" is, well, offensive.

Exactly... no one wants to admit that the middle of the AAC is probably a lot closer to the bottom of what the SEC. The SEC would like to believe they are well above them; yet, the games and the box scores haven't proven that.

I find I have a hard time watching a lot of women's basketball games because I have been spoiled. There are a limited number of teams that play attractive offensive basketball, and fewer still that have enough good basketball players to run that system. Of the P5, I would say the SEC has generally been the most offensively challenged in terms of systems being run. That may be changing with some of the newer coaches replacing the old school folks. The touting of the 'battles' in the SEC often seems to be just that - physicality in the paint because that is where most of the points end up being scored because outside shooting is more miss than hit.

And I agree that watching blow outs tends to be more joyful for the fans of the winner than for others - though watching really well executed offense and defense makes a rout more palatable. Watching a mismatch where the winning team is just physically overwhelming the loser without aesthetically pleasing offense is just painful if you are not a fan of the team.

I do think the AAC has pretty good coaches trying to run pretty good systems with players that are bleeding for their team. I cannot say the same for many of the P5 teams out there.

I think the OP was talking about the SEC as a whole (not just good offense). As all UConn fans know Geno has one of the best defensive systems in basketball. The way they shut down the Ohio State guards was a thing of beauty. I enjoy watching good defense just as much as good offense. I thought Tennessee defense most of the game was outstanding against Missouri even though they can't shoot a lick. South Carolina and Mississippi State play really good defense as well. Other than UConn, Notre Dame, Maryland, Oregon and Baylor there are not a lot of teams with good offensive systems. Right now I would place the conferences in this order:
1. SEC (South Carolina being#2 helps)
2. ACC (Notre Dame being #3 helps, FSU has been a little of a disappointment)
3. PAC 12 ( the top half of the conference is pretty good)
4. Big 10 (two really good teams and 7 solid teams)
5. Big 12 (two really good teams and 8 OK to sorry teams)
6. AAC (UConn and USF)
7. Big East (Xavier, St John's, DePaul and Seton Hall probably NCAA bound)

I can't give the top spot to the SEC based on watchability alone. That Missouri - Tennessee game was painful.
Honestly, the Big 12 is probably the best, or tied. Texas and Baylor are both good, and OK State can beat either of those teams on any given night. I haven't seen Oklahoma this year but I usually like how Sherri's teams play. It's certainly better than the ACC this year. ND is solid, but if Duke is the next best team in that league based on rankings, well....

Would UConn beat every team in the SEC? Probably. But not by 60 points most nights. And the second best team in the AAC would have a hard time finishing in the top five of the SEC. Those are just facts, folks.

But I'm not one to put down the AAC. Temple, Memphis, South Florida and Tulane are all pretty good teams -- as long as you don't unfairly use this year's UConn team as the measuring stick.

Let's be honest... the "parity" everyone was seeking has brought a lot of mediocrity and inconsistency even among many of the traditional powerhouse teams. Credit Geno, CD and the staff for bucking that trend... and pray that it can continue.

So you are saying the current 5th best team in the SEC would easily beat USF right now? Who might that 5th best team be in your opinion?

I think the poster stated that South Florida would find it hard to be in the top 5 in the SEC. Here are my 5.
South Carolina
Tennessee
Mississippi State
Kentucky
Texas A&M
I believe all these teams can beat South Florida. But it wouldn't be by a large margin. (Maybe Missouri too but not the team we saw on Monday)

That's my point. The SEC loves to beat it's chest about how tough their conference is. If they were really honest they could admit they have more than enough teams in their league that could use some work (much like every other conference in WCBB). Miss State barely got by SMU. Here are the current standing for the SEC/AAC challenge:

Fri 11/13/15 - Florida 91 Temple 97 AAC WIN
Mon 11/23/15 - Tulsa 74 Arkansas 67 AAC WIN
Mon 11/23/15 - Tulane 67 Louisiana State 63 AAC WIN
Sat 12/05/15 - East Carolina 69 at Auburn 83 SEC WIN
Mon 12/07/15 - Southern Methodist 55 at Texas A&M 67 SEC WIN
Wed 12/16/15 - Tulane 61 at Ole Miss 59 AAC WIN
Sun 12/20/15 - East Carolina 57 at South Carolina 88 SEC WIN
Mon 12/21/15 - Mississippi State 72 at Southern Methodist 70 SEC WIN
Mon 12/21/15 - Louisiana State 40 at Connecticut 86 AAC WIN
Wed 12/23/15 - Cincinnati 42 at Georgia 60 SEC WIN
Wed 12/30/15 - South Florida 58 at Mississippi State 68 SEC WIN
Wed 12/30/15 - Central Florida 79 at Florida 93 SEC WIN
Mon 02/08/16 - Connecticut at South Carolina ?

7 SEC Wins- Avg. MOV = 14 Points

5 AAC Wins- Avg. MOV = 9 Points

The point I am trying to make is that if the conference is so much better why aren't they winning by 30+..... with the exception of UConn and SCar which obviously have far more talent, all the other games weren't exactly the monstrous blow outs that you would expect from the best conference in the nation taking up anywhere from 6 to 8 spots to the NCAA tourney every year with only one of those spots resulting in a FF trip in the past 8 years.

Have you noticed that the best teams only play each other once for the most part so they have less losses and slightly better seeding come tournament time? However, they play the less talented teams twice.I would certainly tune in to an extra Tenn.vs.So.Carolina match but they don't want to schedule it that way.
