Wolf has received his release from UConn

It seems that everyone who transferred last year left in good academic standing (Scoe, AO, Bradley). Yet we only scored a 947. So where exactly did we lose points? I just don't want Wolf to cost us any

I think KO said he did everything he had to in the classroom. So, I think we're good shape with his APR points.

Bradley went to a juco if I remember correctly. Also a retainer point can still be lost regardless of academic standing....I think.

For transfers, it's not just about leaving in good standing. They also have to meet a minimum GPA of 2.6. Safe to say that the points we lost were because of the transfers. Drummond didn't count against APR, Lamb presumably was in good standing, and the guys who came back had no academic issues.

So basically we don't lose the retention point if Wolf has a 2.6 and transfers to a 4 year college or goes pro. I'd still like to know where we lost points last year aside from Bradley.

That would be kind of funny if he ends up at PC. Didn't JC have him ticketed for Rhody? I guess this would be payback for Sly Williams.

The 947 is based on 36/38 points. Either Bradley left as an 0-2 or there's another transfer who left with under a 2.6 but otherwise good standing. Everyone who returned was eligible so we can rule that out. I don't follow the student athelete awards but that might further limit the scenarios. AO and Lamb likely reduced the denominator possible points by 2 from 40 to 38 and its quite possible Scoe and Bradley were each 1-2. I wouldn't lose sleep on this. Its their business.

I'm glad he has some scholarship options if for no other reason than having to pay 50k for one year of college is ridiculous.

My guess is Roscoe was a 1/2. Maybe it was his late-clock judgment, but he never struck me as a particularly sharp fellow.

Bradley transferring to a JC was probably the other one, which is really frustrating because he clearly had the intellect and grades to transfer to a 4-year college and avoid costing us a point, but didn't.

I'd be shocked if we see another big name become ineligible for the postseason. Coaches and AD's know exactly what score they need to get each year and are going to do everything in their power to make sure they hit it.

I agree. Schools will cheat the system (North Carolina, anyone?) to get passing scores. And the NCAA will stick its head up its behind and take credit for having made schools take academics seriously.

It's trite to mention them, but Kentucky. Nothing in the world can convince me that Eric Bledsoe nor DaMarcus Cousins ever attended a class (fully conscious at any rate) in their respective year long (read 6 months) sabbaticals at UK.

He never said it as definitive. He said he wouldn't blame him if he declared and he may have predicted that he would declare at one time or another. But he never claimed that this was based on any direct knowledge, just his opinion.

Agreed. I'm gonna miss his recruiting spotlights. That series was a breath of fresh air for the UConn beat writers.

Given Napier's injury and resulting inability to try out for any NBA teams and the general consensus that Napier would have been lucky to be drafted in the second round, Duffy's opinion made him look ill informed at best and down right stupid at worst. That was **my** first impression of Duffy. But hey, first impressions are ocassionaly wrong.....
