A source says UConn center Enosch Wolf has received his release from the program.

Guess this means he is not coming back. Or if this is intended to mean he lost his scholly, it's old news. Either way, good luck Wolfie!

Based on precedent it shouldn't but with the NCAA you never know. His grades were high though, so if he transfers, UConn is in the clear. If he goes and hides in a whole, it will hurt that phony GSR thing, but if he goes to play pro ball, he doesn't count against UConn's GSR. If he transfers with decent grades, he doesn't count against UConn's GSR. If he hides ina hole, he hurts UConn's GSR. But, since the NCAA doesn't want to set a precedent of forcing schools that have a player with some sort of behavioral infraction to take APR into account when assessing his punishment, the whole thing make be exempt from both APR and GSR.

Today is a sad day if this is indeed true.

I'm wondering why he would need a release from a school that he doesn't have a scholarship from. If you're a walk on can't you just transfer to another school and play basketball if you want? Just like any other student.

When scholarship not renewed the s-a has to be notified by july 1st, so this might just be the official letter of nonrenewal.

His twitter still has uconn. He has a decision to make, Hopefully he chooses to stay with uconn, get his degree and contribute on the court.

Yes, that's what this must be about. His scholarship was not renewed. I'm assuming that means that he's free to go wherever he wants now without any approval or release from UConn.

@DaveBorges: Hearing Gonzaga, Providence among schools that may have interest in Enosch Wolf should he decide to transfer.

Figures that the Wolf saga will end with him transferring to Providence.

Im assuming there would be more flexibility for financial assistance at a private school for Wolf? Is that correct?

If he's transferring he's going to a school that is giving him a scholarship

Dear Providence, give up on paschal or else we will block the Enosch transfer

That kinda sucks, but not unexpected. I wish the guy well. He sure made a series of really bad choices that cost him a lot.

I'm pretty sure that if a player leaves for cause other than academic cause, it doesn't impact APR, or the NCAA grants a waiver. they certainly don't want schools to keep guys who violate the law or are dangers to the community just to avoid negative APR impacts. Unless its the SEC. Then they want to remove guys who are good students and good citizens.
