Well, sure looks like the Mystics will now take a shooting guard/wing....and pick up a first-round pick in '26, to boot.
Meanwhile, Cheryl Reeve gets a sweet-shooting veteran. BTW, her contract is good until after the 2026 season, so the debating point: is two years of Karlie worth it for a 1st rounder? Clearly, Reeve is hoping KS will help the Lynix get over the hump in the next two seasons.

I kinda like that for both teams. The Mystics are going all-in on their youth movement and the Lynx get someone who can contribute immediately.

OTOH, the Mystics are now down to 8 players, including Sug Sutton and Emily Engstler who have a total of 160 games between them, Shakira Austin, who's played maybe 30 games the last two years combined, and Sika Kone who's scored a total of 179 points in her career. Aaliyah and Jade Melbourne don't exactly have a lot of pro experience, either, though I agree with someone who said recently that Edwards is poised for a breakthrough year.

So they have Sykes and Dolson who both have had productive pro careers. Heck, they might have trouble filling that little peppermill arena they play in this year. I'm hoping they draft Azzi next year and are forced to play in Capital One because of her popularity.

Well, hopefully they won't have to wait for Azzi (or anyone else for that matter). They've got three top choices and hopefully those three will pan out...or at least start developing.

A German Pilsner or Octoberfest sounds great……
(More likely a Maerzen rather than an Oktoberfest this time of year.) I've got a brown ale and a kolsch (homemade) in the kegs, a Pilsner and a Vienna from a local brewery in cans. Yes, I'm prepared, and I was never even a boy scout. :D

And here you had me thinking that you earned a merit badge in brewing.

Here we go! Look forward to seeing who Curt Miller takes a little later on to join her in Dallas!

International flair w/ Malonga at #2 and Jocyte at #5. Both only 19 years old.
UConn was interested in Jocyte a few years ago, but she decided to stay and play in Europe.

There's a draft thread over in the other board but that's UConn centric. Could start a new thread but might as well just use this one.

Bueckers went #1 to Dallas of course.

Connecticut just took Morrow at #7.

Washington gets Citron, Iriafen and Amoore at picks 3,4 and 6. How do we feel about this group?
I like it. Citron and Amoore could be an awesome tandem and Amoore stated she's always wanted to play with Citron. Add them with Melbourne and this could be a fun group of guards with Sykes as a veteran to rely upon. Iriafen adds more depth at the forward position to go along with Edwards, Austin and Engstler as part of the youth movement. The athleticism between those four alone is scary.

I feel like 6 was high for Amoore. I don't see her having great success at her size, given that she's not an elite scorer or defender. And, while she's improved over her 5 years, her career assist to TO ratio is less than 2:1, which isn't great for a PG.

As a Connecticut resident somewhat bemused by the Sun's off-season moves, I really like both of their picks.

Ajsa Sivka #10 to Chicago. 6-4 from Slovenia. Don't remember seeing her in draft discussions. Looks like more of a guard/wing from her highlight package than a post.
