They have A. Edwards already
They also have Austin
But the Mystics still need depth in the front court. Adding someone like Malonga or Morrow doesn't hurt from my perspective.

Hines-Allen was traded away. Assuming Dolson is returning, but not sure. Engstler is kind of a tweener to me as she doesn't play in the post a lot. Kone could be seen as a project and they've recently added Soule on a training camp contract. They need to expand the pool of forwards before training camp to ensure they have decent depth to compete in the league.

From what I've heard, the Mystics get the better of the pick swap. Plus it's the 2nd rounder. Kevin Pelyon isn't very knowledgeable.

Most are predicting the Mystics will get in order.

Malonga
Citron
Sellers (or the international guard) because they need more backcourt help.

I would pick Morrow because she’s such a rebounding machine.
They should invest one of those picks in Malonga, for sure, because her upside is phenomenal.
Citron and Sellers are very similar players, but one could play the 2 while the other wing.
As for Morrow and the Mystics: a big hmmm. Where would she play? Over Aaliyah Edwards? And she's not really a wing in terms of range. Plus, you've got Engstler, who can rebound, defend and has extended her range every year. Plus, Citron and Sellers are stellar rebounders as guards.

I see Morrow's situation similar to Naz Hillmon's when she was eligible in the draft. More depth and an energy player because she's willing to crash the boards. Expanding her game through off-season ventures like the WNBL, Unrivaled, Athletes Unlimited could address her range issue, as it has with Hillmon.

When you look at the Dream's roster the last few seasons, Hillmon got playing time head of others taller than her (Billings, Nia Coffey, Amihere, Parker-Tyus sometimes, etc). And considering the Mystics have Soule and Kone as part of the team currently, seeing Morrow on their roster wouldn't be surprising.

.-.
With 3, 4, and 6, the Mystics could be positioning themselves to pick up Azzi (a D.C. area favorite) if they can't put together a package to get the #1 from Dallas and pick up Paige.

My only issue with Morrow to the Mystics is Engstler. She's their undersized do everything forward who's added a 3 ball. No point in keeping them both.
I hear you, but we've seen stranger draft decisions happen.

With the potential of this draft pool, giving up 2 first rounders in exchange for Bueckers doesn't make sense to me. How do the Mystic fill in the gaps?

Free agency hasn't garnered them much. Especially that high in the draft, that's a big "all in" move if that were to happen.

There's a thread started on the UConn board, but thought I'd post this here as it's been a question for some fans.

cancontent- - -I'm so happy that DT choose retirement!
Her body couldn't take the pounding and she spent more & more time on the IL!
She'll go out as the GOAT and can now look for a franchise to become an owner as she said she'd love to do!

As for DT:

Congratulations on a spectacular career full of achievements on so many levels: collegiately, professionally in the States and overseas and for the U.S.A. International team.

She played and talked hard on the court, which opponents might hate (at least initially) but most teammates cherished. When she was in her prime (which lasted a hell of a long time), she was a three-level scorer and exceedingly competent floor leader when needed, as well as good rebounder. Could run and gun or get in a rock fight of a game.

Hope she enjoys whatever challenges she decides to pursue next.

Now that she's retired, the Huskies (in the) WNBA leadership mantle is completely passed to Stewie and Napheesa Collier.

I really like Morrow. There is more to her game than we see now at LSU. Coach Bruno at Depaul had her play guard as a soph, and had her launch 250 threes! That was an effort to expand her game for the W.

She only made 25%, but what was important was she knew what she needed to work on, and has been at it now already for 3 years. Even though at LSU she is all about rebounds and put backs, she quietly keeps working on other parts of her game.

She's willing to be a 3 in the W and work to improve, but she still will probably be best as a small 4. Agree Mystics not best fit, but imagine her in the Kia Stokes role next to Wilson in Vegas.

If Azzi declares for the draft, the Mystics absolutely need to draft her. The only downside I can see is that there aren’t enough seats in the sardine tin to hold all the fans who would want to see her.

Right there with you. I am a huge Morrow fan. She has a high motor, strength, desire, and just solid on both ends of the floor. She is going to be a decent player at the pro level.

People had similar concerns about Angel Reese in the pros and she was phenomenal as a rookie. Morrow’s motor is unmatched and her ability to rebound is elite. She’ll develop a jumper with more time but those two traits make her unique and I think she’ll thrive in the pros.

Agree. Jumper is already there, and used often in the 10-15 ft range. She even still shoots an occasional three, 7 for 28 on the season. (for reference KK Arnold 7-32).

Quite importantly, Morrow's jumper is a smooth repeatable motion, athletic with proper high release and a true jump shot! (actually leaving her feet )

While Reese is a great comp for Morrow, the difference is that Reese is an even better rebounder, but Morrow has a smoother offensive game both at basket and outside.

Well this looks like fun. Nice to see someone like Kevin Hart invest in supporting the WNBA. Especially after the NBA all-star game and the teasing from Rickea Jackson, Aaliyah Edwards and others. :)

The trend of WNBA games at the alma mater of players continues. ND Fans should enjoy this one. :D

Not just Domers but any fans who enjoy watching the alums of Guard U, including this one. =)

A couple of signings in the last few days that may have flown under the radar due to end-of-regular season madness:

  • Christyn Williams signed a Training Camp Contract with the Minnesota Lynx.. (Can a third Husky be on the Lynx?)
  • McKenzie Forbes signed a Training Camp Contract with the Dallas Wings
  • Morgan Bertsch signed a Training Camp Contract with the Chicago Sky. (her second stint with the Sky. She was actually sharing the power forward slot with Alanna Smith until she got injured.)

Sorry, I missed the Christyn Williams post earlier. Heck, I didn't even recognize her! Shame on me.:rolleyes:

Some more entries from the WNBA's Transactions Page:

  • Cecilia Zandalasini signed a Contract with the Golden State Valkyries.
  • Ashley Joens signed a Training Camp Contract with the Atlanta Dream.

I hate to see Cecilia leave Minnesota. She is one of my favorite players. Ashley Joens, a great talent. I hope that she makes the roster for the Dream.
