Okay, I gotta hope Kelsey Plum goes elsewhere. More juggling around of the rotation and not having a defined roll is not what she needs. Anyway she's the only reason I like Vegas, and w/ them adding Gray it's even harder to root for them (sorry @triaddukefan but I just don't like her).
I would think adding Gray would free up Kelsey at the 2 guard spot. Don’t think Jackie is going to beat KP out because she is such a great shooter. I never did see what Bill saw in Jackie to take her over everybody else TBH.

Well they already tried that and she's better as a 1 than a 2.

Young has similarities to Gray, just not in the passing area. He likes big guards.

The Mystics sign Tina Charles.
Tina Charles is a question mark as far as how good she is now. She was bad that last year with the Liberty. She made the team worse and that’s hard to do.

What Young has over Gray is probably a little bit more athleticism, and being a better defender.

Crystal Langhorne has retired and joined the front office of the Storm. Director or Community Engagement.

edit--and they signed Candice Dupree.

There is some concern about Natasha Howard's contract situation.

Here's my hot take, if the Storm lose both Clark and Howard they aren't repeating as Champs. I know it's all about the Stewie and Bird show along w/ Loyd, but those 2 were the secret sauce that really made it work. The 2 years after the Storm drafted Stewie they went 15-19 and 16-18 and were bounced from the 1st round both seasons. It wasn't until Howard arrived that they took off.

I wouldn't say she made the team worse but she had a bad year. She's definitely a question mark this year since she is a very capable scorer since she will have to adjust playing a very new role. She was the Liberty's only offense force the last several years and consistently led the league in FGA. Offensively she won't be the go to player in Washington and it may take time to get acquainted to playing with EDD. If they can be a strong 2 headed monster, they'll be a title favorite along with Seattle and maybe Vegas.

I don't think the Mystics will give Charles a major role on the team. I think Myisha Hines-Allen will be the 2nd go to player inside. I think Tina will be there for defense and rebounding. The Mystics are still waiting on Natasha Cloud's decision.

Boy did Hines-Allen make the most of Tina Charles opting out
Curious to see how Betnijah Laney does with Liberty

Damn, the Storm have lost some really key pieces. First Clark, now Howard and Whitcomb. So far the replacments are Dupree and KLS. I'm not impressed with the moves. They aren't going to be as good, especially on defense. No repeat for the Storm.

Oh, the Storm also acquired Stephanie Talbot. That doesn't move the needle.

Long term plan

Seattle needs to get more playing time for Ezi, Russell, Canada, Lou fits that also. If Tuck is healthy she will play. Clark isn't going to get much better, and Howard had a bad year.

Storm also got Herbert-Harrigan. Yawn.

So they acquired a '21 and '22 1st round draft pick and promptly traded them away for players who have not really done anything in the league so far. The '21 was #1 overall pick. I know the consensus is that there isn't a #1 worthy pick this year, but still trading that away for a former #4 pick who has been a fairly big disappointment so far?

Candice Dupree has been a very good player for a long time. She can score, but I don't think she can D up like Howard, and I don't know how many miles she has left. She's 36.

and Howard had a bad year.
She had a terrible start to the season, but turned it around and was good in the playoffs. Averaged 13.5 ppg over the final 12 regular season games shooting 61% and 8.3 rbg. Not bad for a 4th option.

Good point noting the drop off on D . I was going to say especially KLS but on second thought especially both of them.

That was almost bizarre how little impact the first half of the season she had. That was a deep team.

Herbert-Harrigan may surprise. Maturity issues at SC. Good physical tools. I was impressed with her production in limited minutes her first year in W. She looked like she belonged.

May be right about Clark but she’s been getting better with age but that can’t go on forever. Clark was a late bloomer as a pro and she sure did bloom. In 2016 when they lost in first round she was brutal. No offense. Coach that year for Storm was in over her head. She’s now in the NBA.

She's a high energy player and she had no energy at the start of the season. She looked like an entirely different person. But the light suddenly flipped up around the midpoint and she was back to being the player we were used to seeing.

MHH improved a great deal over the course of her final season at SC. There were very few observable deficiencies in her game last year, and Boston’s life is much harder in her absence.

I feel like I remember them saying Howard came into the bubble a bit out of shape. So, that would explain the "no energy" situation. From fourth option on the Storm to the fourth richest contract in the league.
