Seattle resigned Prince, not really sure why. They have some dead weight I really hope they get rid of--Langhorne and (I know you BYers aren't going to like this...) Tuck. Too many players that are either aging/nearing the end of their career or hampered by injuries, who don't produce much. I just don't get how you can afford to pay 3 players who did as little as these 3 did last year. Especially w/ Clark gone now, they absolutely need another wing/SF kind of player who can do something.
Prince has upside, as a vet. Doesn't she play for some other country's national team?

I think she is nearing the end, but teams will often try to get the last drop from players who are known quantities.

Okay, of the 3 I picked on she's the most viable player currently. The other 2 though?

Seattle will keep Tuck, her contract counts against the cap. Langhorne probably will be waived.

It could be different w/ Gray instead of Young, but like I said 2 years ago playing Plum off the ball didn't work very well for her or the team. I'm still holding out hope she gets traded.
I'd guess she's pretty untradeable at this point with her 175k salary. I don't know what team both needs her and is sitting on that kind of cap space. And do you really want to pay 175k to someone who is coming off an achilles tear and has been average at best so far in her career?

Clark to the Mystics is the only one so far that's left my jaw on the floor. I assumed she was loving life in Seattle, but maybe not. It is closer to home, but it's not exactly a day trip.

I love the pick up for the Mystics.

Just don't think Seattle could afford her. They have to re-sign Howard and Bird this offseason and then Stewie and Jewell next year.

It's a no-brainer for Clark, she gets a big contract from Washington ($183k/yr, 2 years) and she's still on a contender.

Other free agency thoughts while I'm here:

Chicago - Signing Candace is the big swing that Chicago needed to take. It hurts to see a homegrown player coming off a career-best season go in Cheyenne Parker, but it was clear that re-signing Cheyenne wasn't going to make Chicago contenders. I don't know that signing Candace necessarily makes them contenders either but at least there's a chance.

Minnesota - Love the McBride to Minnesota move. After playing on bad Stars teams, she played on very good Aces teams that didn't maximize her skill set. That's not necessarily a dig at Laimbeer because they Aces have done well playing his style. Reeve and McBride just feels like a better match of coach and player. I will be curious to see what cap gymnastics the Lynx due to free space for Powers, but a Dangerfield-McBride-Powers-Collier-Fowles lineup sounds really tasty.

I am a little puzzled at how much money Minny gave Achonwa but congrats to Nat for securing the bag, I guess.

Indiana - I don't like the money they gave to either DRob or Lavender, but I guess they have to do something with the cap space and Dupree, Achonwa, and Wheeler bolted. Just not a big fan of point guards that can't shoot 3s and posts that insist on shooting 20-foot 2s.

I'm glad Lavender was traded by Chicago before I got kicked of Wintrust for losing my mind when she turned a 3 into a 2 by stepping on the line as part of her shooting motion, which happened about twice a game.

It seems like Indiana will be a lottery team forever. Or at least until they luck into the #1 pick in a year where there is a A'ja/Stewie/EDD type ready-made superstar available.

And she’s a little closer to her home in Tennessee.

Indiana better pray they can luck up into Howard Next Season Boston the following or Bueckers IMO. Heck Even getting Haley Jones would be a step forward. Too many mediocre players.

Okay, I gotta hope Kelsey Plum goes elsewhere. More juggling around of the rotation and not having a defined roll is not what she needs. Anyway she's the only reason I like Vegas, and w/ them adding Gray it's even harder to root for them (sorry @triaddukefan but I just don't like her).
I would think adding Gray would free up Kelsey at the 2 guard spot. Don’t think Jackie is going to beat KP out because she is such a great shooter. I never did see what Bill saw in Jackie to take her over everybody else TBH.

Well they already tried that and she's better as a 1 than a 2.

Young has similarities to Gray, just not in the passing area. He likes big guards.

The Mystics sign Tina Charles.
Tina Charles is a question mark as far as how good she is now. She was bad that last year with the Liberty. She made the team worse and that’s hard to do.

What Young has over Gray is probably a little bit more athleticism, and being a better defender.

Crystal Langhorne has retired and joined the front office of the Storm. Director or Community Engagement.

There is some concern about Natasha Howard's contract situation.

Here's my hot take, if the Storm lose both Clark and Howard they aren't repeating as Champs. I know it's all about the Stewie and Bird show along w/ Loyd, but those 2 were the secret sauce that really made it work. The 2 years after the Storm drafted Stewie they went 15-19 and 16-18 and were bounced from the 1st round both seasons. It wasn't until Howard arrived that they took off.

I wouldn't say she made the team worse but she had a bad year. She's definitely a question mark this year since she is a very capable scorer since she will have to adjust playing a very new role. She was the Liberty's only offense force the last several years and consistently led the league in FGA. Offensively she won't be the go to player in Washington and it may take time to get acquainted to playing with EDD. If they can be a strong 2 headed monster, they'll be a title favorite along with Seattle and maybe Vegas.

I don't think the Mystics will give Charles a major role on the team. I think Myisha Hines-Allen will be the 2nd go to player inside. I think Tina will be there for defense and rebounding. The Mystics are still waiting on Natasha Cloud's decision.

Boy did Hines-Allen make the most of Tina Charles opting out
Curious to see how Betnijah Laney does with Liberty

Damn, the Storm have lost some really key pieces. First Clark, now Howard and Whitcomb. So far the replacments are Dupree and KLS. I'm not impressed with the moves. They aren't going to be as good, especially on defense. No repeat for the Storm.

Oh, the Storm also acquired Stephanie Talbot. That doesn't move the needle.
