Don't look now, but Prince saved the Storm in this game. They don't win without her 3 point shooting.
That's what she is on the team for, hopefully she will start being more consistent. Between Jewell and Gabby 6 for 22 doesn't cut it.

I feel like the storm have been trying to replicate the recipe of success that got them a few championships. Magbegor has evolved into a suitable replacement for Howard. But losing Alysha Clark really hurt them. They tried Katie Lou but I don’t think she had the defense to make up for average three point shooting. Going with Williams provides them the defense, but she’s never proven to be a good shooter in the W. Overseas play never seems to quite translate for most players.

I think Bird retires, Stewie heads to NY, and this era of the storm comes to a close.

As long as Jewell is there and with Ezi starting to come on. If Russell gets back to being able to play 25 minutes and start.
Gabby can be effective coming off the bench. They have their next point guard playing in Australia this year, and at 19 on the national team. The potential for Seattle to be good next year and better after is good.
And Stewie is about winning Championships.

The thing I'm not getting about Gabby is why isn't she able to use her experience playing in the post in college to her advantage in some matchups the way Clark did and still does? Alsyha was never a big scorer, but she will brutally exploit a mismatch. But yeah, mostly the problem is trying to replace a 50% 3 point shooter with a what, sub 30% shooter?

Oof, Gabby shooting 30% overall and 20% from 3. That's horrible. No matter how many other good things she does on the court, you can't be that poor shooting the ball and get major time on the floor.

Dallas up 9 at halftime on Las Vegas, no problem. Aces outscored them by 17 in the second half. Young is back, good news. Plum w/ 27 and Wilson w/ 25. Arike had 28. Mabrey back for Dallas. It was a Notre Dame reunion.

Yup. Over the years I've heard a number of players get hyped up because they had a great season in Europe, but it doesn't matter until they do it in the WNBA in my mind.

If you can shoot in Europe, you can shoot in America so the latent ability is there. The issue in my mind is her nerves. She is wound very tight. However, in the last 2-3 games, she finally seems to be going full speed and attacking the ball on the boards, getting good assists and just being an overall ball of energy. Maybe this will translate into more confident shooting.

To me it is different roles. On Sopron, Gabby was by far the best player, leader, etc. She had to do the most, for the team to succeed. The role on Seattle is different. The leaders are Stewie, Loyd, and Bird. Gabby is a compliment player on the Storm.

Some other examples, with different roles--Arike was the leader on Dynamo Kursk and the leader on the Wings, similar roles.

Rebecca Allen was a compliment role player on Valencia and also on the Liberty.

Both of the above havent changed their styles between overseas and WNBA,

The last game Gabby got in the lane a number of times but rushed her shots.
Needs to slow down and not rush the shots, make a few and relax.
She does' t need to score 15 or more.
If she can give Seattle 8-11 pts a game, that's all they need from her to score.

Durr scored 21 for Atlanta, Aari had 19, still not enough. Lost to the Sun by 13. How long has Destiny Slocum been w/ the Dream?

Merc starting to win some games. 29 for Charles. Fever might finally legitimately building toward the future, but it could be another tough season for them.

Happy for Durr after her health severe COVID issues. Was playing minimal minutes for the Liberty before a trade to Atlanta which was apparently done in her benefit to get her back to her family. Pretty cool story.

Soooooo no one watched the 30 for 30 3 part doc about the USA olympic team of 96 ? Geno , Tara and Lobo were the controversial stars imo.

I'm hoping I can find it online. I don't think it debuted in Canada last night, which sucks.

I saw it, and man was Tara brutal in regards to Lobo  clearly her level of play was not up to par with the rest of the team and she was named for “other reasons” but I must admit to feeling a little sorry for her for what she went through.

I knew about Ruthie Bolton’s domestic issues, but had no idea of Venus Lacy’s post Olympic troubles :(

Kind of sounds like how Laettner was treated when he was added to the Dream Team roster. Man, I need to find this online as this increases the intrigue for me.

That’s exactly how it was!! Lobo address this specifically. If you have ESPN you can catch it on the watchESPN site.

I'm in Canada, so it's not as simple. :( Our version of TSN has a broadcast relationship with ESPN but they don't always broadcast the 30 for 30 series at the same time. When I checked the schedule, it wasn't listed. At least they had the Mercury-Fever game though.

Awe ok :(

Lib looking to salt away a win against EDD-less Mystics. Ionescu's hot shooting finally cooled off, but Howard picking up the slack. Ionescu and Johannes have 8 and 7 assists. Dangerfield might be the PG but she's really not their primary play maker.

Nice bounce back game by my Liberty from the painful Sky loss. With the announcement of Sue retiring after this year, I quickly decided to go to the Liberty Storm game this Sunday at 12PM. Quick decision before prices go up. :)

But Crystal and Sabrina are both smart players who are getting better working together. Whatever we want to call Crystal, she relieves alot of pressure on the guards.

Marine Johannes has been the biggest difference maker for the Libs along with Han Zhu imo . Dangerfield is beneficial because she allows Sabrina to focus on scoring which she's shown shes hella good at along with still leading the team in Assists and most times rebounds. Bringing the ball up and having to direct players on plays can take a lot of ones energy so moving SAB to the 2 has been a great move by Sandy.

Sue Bird playing reasonably well on the 1st game of her farewell tour (3-4) from 3 in first half but Brionna Jones is chewing up Stewie and the Storm in the paint. She is so tough. 42-32 Conn at half.
