There are 12 WNBA teams each with a 12 player roster. I don't know what the answer it, but there simply are not enough teams for the amount of talent out there. At last count, 88 girls who have not exhausted their eligibility have declared for the draft. There must be dozens more who are interested who didn't have to declare. 3 rounds equals 36 total picks from a very large pool. In 2020 only 16 of 36 draft picks made a WNBA roster. I don't have any answers, but it just seems like something is really broken for there to be so few opportunities to play pro ball in America. It would be nice to somehow see the 12 become 16.
