The only problem was that there were no viable post players. The available posts were Alaina Coates (injured, has yet to play) and Brionna Jones (did nothing as a rookie).

With perfect hindsight, you could say they maybe should have drafted Gray. I don't think there were many saying Gray was a better prospect than Plum at the time. Besides, It takes many WNBA players a year to adjust (e.g. Skylar Diggins). Plum may end up being quite good yet.

They should obviously take Wilson, I agree, but I don't think it has anything to do with Plum or rectifying any mistake they made in taking her.

Coates did not impress me as being a serviceable post player in the W other than as a reserve. I thought Jones would make a bigger splash than she did. Maybe a change of venue would benefit her as it did for Courtney Williams (USF) when she was cut by the Mercury, then picked up by the Connecticut Sun where she became a starter and has thrived. Agreed that no one saw Gray having a "rookie of the year" type season. I'm very happy for her by the way.

They can't rectify last year's mistake. That ship has sailed. They can only endeavor to insure they don't make one this year. It's my opinion that with Jefferson and McBride in their back court, Plum is a third wheel they really don't need, I could be wrong. We'll see what the new regime does with the holdovers under contract from last year's roster.

Agree with both of you that were not a lot of available posts at the top slot last year. The trade that brought Isabelle Harrison aboard turned out pretty well for them. Still, I'm certain Laimbeer will go after another presence in the post. Don't ever forget he was a "bruise brother," so I see him going with a yet another physical presence -- preferably one that can also score -- and that's Wilson.

Laimbeer often played two bigs and three guards with the Liberty, so I could see him getting Plum, Jefferson and McBride on the floor at the same time if the match-ups work. Given the injuries K-Mac had two seasons ago and MoJeff had last year, a bit of depth never hurts, either.

I'd bet the farm that they win more than 8 games next season.

So MSG selling Liberty. Can they sell them to Golden State and then switch MN to Eastern division?

Makes you wonder if Laimbeer knew of this impending sale when he chose to hit the road from NYC and take MGM's offer to head to Vegas with the transplanted Stars.

As of now, I agree with your Top 4. It'd be a nice day for Chicago to pick up both Mitchell and Williams after being the losers in the lottery.

When you get to the bottom if the first round, I could see the Sparks taking a prominent foreign player, and in that case, the Lynx might scoop up Nurse to replace Perkins on their squad. If not, then the Lynx could scoop up that foreign player.... namely, Vadeeva from Russia. Mechelle Voepel is talking like Vadeeva could be a lottery pick, but I think that's a bit exuberant at this point not even knowing if she wants to play in the WNBA.

I don't see Scaife as a first rounder, but she's welcome to prove me wrong. I have my doubts about Mavunga too.

After just a two game sample, Scaife is still rusty after her medical redshirt. But if she gets back to full strength (which Stringer said she expects to take a few more weeks) she will be very difficult to guard once again.

What was her issue?

To my knowledge, that has not been released yet. However CVS has said that she did not play basketball for a year.

I like your selections. But I don't think Diamond will go as high as number 2.

I wouldn't pick her two but I think most GMs would, especially Indiana. The Fever have several good players but no superstar to build their team around. Wilson would be the obvious choice here, but if she's not on the table then Deshields looks to be the next best bet. She has the physical tools and potential to make a really good pro, but I think she's an incredibly risky pick when you look at her track record and lack of collegiate success. Mitchell is a great player with her speed, quick release and scoring prowess, but if there's a position that Indiana is doing okay with, it's guard play. Adding in Mitchell would be the equivalent to the Stars picking Plum when they already had Jefferson on board, and we saw how well that worked out for this. Williams may be a smarter pick, but Williams has question marks since she hasn't shown the perimeter game needed to be a 2 or a 3, and she's too undersized as a 4 to make it as a PG in the pros. She also isn't a particularly dynamic scorer which is what Indiana needs. Great player, but I think she's a better Robin than a Batman and Indiana needs Batman.

Can someone help me with this........if 3 Tennessee players are drafted in the top 10, what does that say about their coach if they finished 20-12 last year? or, perhaps they are overrated as players?

The rest of the lineup was dreadful and team chemistry was atrocious. Most importantly, horrendous coaching whose system players didn’t buy into and it showed.
