OT: WNBA 25th season starts tonight

Sky whupped the Mystics. No EDD, no Meesseman, no Clark. Who is this team?
 
Plum not starting for the Aces, but Riquna Williams is? Man I hope Kelsey can get out of there.
 
Got a shootout in Seattle. 27-26 Storm thru Q1. Seattle's D is the main reason they won 2 recent Titles. Appears to be non existent now. You can't overstate how much losing Howard and Clark is gonna hurt them on D.
 
Cambage is in mid season form whining to the refs. :rolleyes:

Canada looks good, driving at will. Loyd off to a good start.

Wilson scored at will in Q1.

Seattle was down at least 7 early, maybe more. Rolling in Q2, up 14.

Not impressed w/ Gray. She's put up big stats during her time w/ the Sparks, but when I watch her play I just don't like what I see. More of the same w/ the Aces.

Plum not playing well.

KLS having no impact so far. I don't care what she did in Europe, she has yet to prove she can be a consistent contributor in the W.

Bird and Stewie have gotten going after a slow start.
 
At 40 Sue is the ageless wonder. She’ll still be knocking down shots in her 60’s.
 
LV had cut the lead to 6, but KLS ends the first half scoring w/ 3. 49-40 Storm.
 
More Ezi and less Dupree please. Candice started out decent but now is 3-11. Leading the team in FG attempts.
 
KLS hit a three at 24.2 secs left to stop Aces 8-0 run, Storm 49 - 40 at half.

Wilson and Cambage both in double figures, but it still looks like they don't really mesh together very well.

Cambage will underachieve as always by being distracted about meaningless stuff but Wilson continues to get better and better. Very Impressed with her passion and focus.
 
+/- isn't everything, but check out Seattle's bench--Canada +10, Talbot +15, Magbegor +18. I think those 3 were all on the floor when they surged ahead in Q2. Some of the starters are pretty lacking when it comes to D, the reserves stepped it up in that category and brought some energy.
 
Ezi started 2nd half instead of Dupree. Smart.
 
Quick 10-0 Seattle run to start Q3. 3's still raining.

LV has some funky defensive schemes. They keep getting midgets switched onto post players all the time.
 
I totally missed Kiana Williams making her regular season debut for Seattle.

Is Kennedy Burke unavailable? Hasn't played. Neither has Herbert-Harrigan.


Wilson has 22, J. Young has 12, not much help from the rest of the Aces. Really, really, really underwhelming debut for Gray (2 pts, 2 assists 1-6 shooting 25 minutes).

3's remained really lopsided--11-26 vs. 3-12.
 
97-83 final. One more 3 for Stewie. Loyd chipped in 22.

Plum has more energy and confidence for this season's first game. She should replace Gray as the starter.

Correct me if I am wrong but didn't Gray have a really poor European season??
 
Fun to see Stewie, Sue and Katie Lou on the same team! This is the only game I've watched this season but if it's representative of the 2021 WNBA, the product is looking much better than last year's pandemic hobbled season. Players look fit and fast, and team play is pretty good for this early in the season.
