WNBA 2026

A potential Kiki, Shakira, Betts front court is really young...and potentially really good.

Indiana had limited options due to their inability to sign their non-core players to long-term deals with what they're facing with the big money that will be tied up in CC/AB, but signing Myisha Hines-Allen is inexplicable based on the way they want to play and how destructive her minutes have been ever since she got traded from Washington to Minn and then her last year with Dallas. You would think with the money they've made off of CC they would invest some of that in their scouting dept, nobody would look at the advanced scouting numbers for the past 1.5 years and think adding MHA to a team trying to contend for a title.

Not sure I see any of those consistently coming out to the arc to guard a speedy wing who can shoot the three.
However, I can see a steady three-person rotation for the two inside slots most of the time and occasionally going to a big lineup.

Citron is long enough to play the three, although she's fast enough to also play the #3. Nice position for the Mytics to be in, but I'm still not so sure it was the right way to go...(see immediately below).

Jamila Wideman didn't want to committ to Austin and that deal is exactly why she should have remained as GM.
If that's true, a number of people agree with you and her on this (see comments on The Athletic draft board article).
Austin is a ? due to her inability to consistently stay on the court. Washington invested in her heavily, so one better hope she can be there, most nights in.

Plus, the Mystics -- with that saved money -- could see how the three top choices work this year and then invest in a free agent next year to take them to the next level. Someone like Jackie Young.

If this was done because someone thought Austin would be a good hometown draw, they've could've gone rookie scale on some combination of Kiki Rice or possibly Azzi Fudd.

When it gets down to it, the best players on that team to bulld around are Citron and Iriafen. Don't muck it up.

Very interesting if this strategy was the reason why Wideman was let go. The offer sheet they ended up committing to was surprising to me. Was not expecting Toronto's offer to be that much. While there are those online joking how the Mystics fleeced Chicago for draft capital, I'm starting to wonder if they've hampered themselves when it comes to free agency over the next couple years at the same time.

If needed, Boston/Billings/Dantas could fill in at the four but I don't think that is ideal.
I've always thought of Billings more of a 4 than a 5.

From the little bit of highlights of the World Cup that I saw, she seemed to be on the receiving end of a bunch of Clark's assists. Might fit in seamlessly with the Fever.

Didn't hurt that Coach White was an assistant on that USAB squad either. She was able to get a good sense of Billings abilities during that tournament.

Can't remember who asked me about Nurse, but I'm glad I was wrong. Hopefully this is the landing spot that helps her rejuvenate her career.

🙋‍♀️ That was me! I called her a hometown-ish gal. Really happy for Kia. I hope this works out well for her and the team.

It might, but she probably also had at least a small edge in being from Canada, and her acquisition could put a few more fans in the arena.

I think it has more to do with the fact she and Brondello are familiar with each other from their Phoenix Mercury days.

I'm giddy with this signing, but also sorry because @TheFarmFan is losing a good one from the Valks. So conflicted right now!

Nothing but happy for her! Valks weren't in a position to drop $1m for her so I'm happy she's getting a long overdue payday! Go get em, Temi! We'll be sure to boo loudly when you come visit Ballhalla, just like you asked for last season! ;)

The other news out of Toronto that was added to a later Toronto Tempo tweet was that Kia Nurse is, indeed, coming home; having signed a one-year contract. There you go, @cancontent ! 👍

Speaking of the Tempo, they holding a sneak peek for fans today. Love seeing this kind of turnout well before the season starts. 🥰😍
