WNBA 2026

This also makes the Reese trade make more sense. A frontcourt of Cardosa, Elizabeth Williams, Azura Stevens and (if the rumors are true) Rickea Jackson, is not a bad place to start at all. Plus they have the 5th pick in the upcoming draft. They could get a Flaujae Johnson, Kiki Rice, or another backcourt piece.

Add in potentially Sky Diggins too. Not a bad lineup.

Another interesting move by the Sky.

(I'm including @Stagnant on this because my comment will involve the Washington Mystcs point guard situation.)

With Sug Sutton picked in the expansion draft and kinda-combo guard Jacy Sheldon off to Chicago, that does leave Georgia Amoore as the only signed point guard on the roster (Jade Melbourne is an UFA). Considering Amoore is coming off an ACL injury and has never played a minute in the WNBA, it would make a lot of sense for the Mystics to use one of those first-round picks for a point guard.

I highly doubt Olivia Miles is going to drop to #4, the Mystics' initial first-round pick, but if she does: grab it. Miles loves playing with Sonia Citron and that combination would help the entire team. That said, if Miles goes elsewhere, there's Kiki Rice and Raven Johnson, both of whom each have strong attributes. Rice is a hometown player, which may or may not factor into the equation.

I've seen a lot of mocks that have the Mystics taking two shooting guards. Yes, they could use someone to support Citron, the leading three-pt. shooter in the W, and Lucy Olsen, but that point guard position screams for attention.

Skylar Diggins to the Chicago Sky
Monique Billings is signing with the Indiana Fever
Satou Sabally has agreed to sign a multiyear deal to join the New York Liberty,
The Seattle Storm has signed guard Natisha Hiedeman

MIles is not dropping to #4. Betts or Fudd will get picked there. (I find it hard for Fam to drop there. The Mystics are really hoping Raven drops to #9.

Kind of shocked Chicago is becoming a landing place for free agents, but they do have the money.
I’m surprised Diggins signed a two year deal instead of one. Maybe she feels confident in Marsh’s ability. 🤔

Over six seasons, Satou has played <23 games on average and has never been particularly efficient. I wouldn’t say her skillset is redundant on NY but I just don’t really get how this makes sense (or how they’re paying for it?) Maybe Satou is all in on playing as the 3rd or 4th option?

I’ll be interested in New York’s shot diet this year. Satou and Sabrina averaged a combined 12.5 threes a game last season and made 31% of them. Ideally the additional spacing and different roles make things easier for everyone, and there aren’t many better interior options that Stewie and JJ.

Kiki Rice should still be available if the Mystics are looking at PG at #4.

I am honestly not a big fan of Satou. Injured a lot. Doesn’t play defense. Shoots less than 40% from the field. New York probably got her for a discount, but she is probably still expensive. I am not sure how it will work out for New York.
