This sounds like a plot line from a Machiavellian treatise.
It’s classic political behavior to a “t”. That is exactly the unspoken plan. Despite going into a hole by $15 to 20 million on this so called investment for the future, the mantra will now return to how much money is being lost, the infeasibility of football as a major independent and the need to down grade. The die has been cast. None have the balls to tell it like it is. The bet is basketball resurgence will give them cover to let it die. These people are scum of the earth.

If we get rid of football, maybe lacrosse can be upgraded...it is getting popular in Florida...

Does the BigEast sponsor LAX?

Can't pass judgement until 1. the schedule gets filled in which can't happen until the exit date is set and 2. the TV deal for FB and 3rd tier MBB and WBB is signed.

If the schedule (you may need to see a few years filled in) is on par with the AAC games and the $$$ (all money) is greater than the AAC, then it was a good move. If not, it wasn't. This was a money move pure and simple. The line about MBB recruiting was always a bit of cover.

I stand by supporting this, if for no other reason then they are taking their destiny into their own hands. The AAC deal sucks no matter how you slice it. I also think it was a slap in the face to UConn's specific interests for nothing in return.
