Agreed...hopefully not the highlight of the entire games, but it might be...
 
Lindsey Vonn? She is racing today [Sunday] in the downhill...anyone know how she did?
 
I just saw she crashed in her first downhill...taken off by helicopter.
She was scheduled to race in one other event...I assume she won't be
doing that now.

Super congrats for her effort to even try this with a completely ruptured Achilles.

It was a very awkward fall. Looked like she tried to spin in mid-air to cut speed, very peculiar.
 
She clipped the “gate” with her right arm and went out of control You could hear her screaming/crying on the ground.
 
I hate the drones! They can be heard at times and just seem a distraction. The point of view they show is constantly changing and it just is dizzying rather than enhancing. I much prefer fixed cameras on towers.
 
Congratulations to Breezy Johnson for winning the 1st US gold medal in the women’s downhill. At the same time, I wish someone had been able to step in and persuade/order Lindsey Vonn not to compete with her torn ACL. At high speeds it’s nearly impossible for a skier to hold their line without 2 stable legs. Vonn’s injury today was both tragic and predictable.

Maybe she could have competed with the injury at age 25 but at 41, her reflexes are a bit slower and she’s not as strong or agile. The differences may be small but when someone is skiing 75 mph, they could be critical

Olde Coach would be devastated. He was fond of Lindsay Vonn, even if he never personally coached her

I think I've enjoyed watching curling the last few Olympics because it takes me back to when I played table shuffleboard when I was a kid. A similar game, don't see any tables around anymore. Our Little League team in NJ was sponsored by a tavern, back in the 50's. After games we would go to the tavern for free sodas, there was a table there, and they would let us play. Great fun!
 
Unfortunate for Vonn but at least Breezy won gold. I’m a bit disappointed in the coverage by NBC. I avoided social media and Peacock and tuned in to NBC. Unfortunately they revealed the racing results and injury to Lindsey before showing the race. Hope Lindsey recovers quickly. To quote Frank Costanza, “I wanted to come in fresh.”

I thought I'd like it more than I actually do. I guess it's too many decades of having the content curated for me and packaged into an evening broadcast. That said I'm on Peacock now watching speed skating.

I love the drone shots, just a tremendous perspective at times - don't like the buzzing sound though.

My father-inlaw designed and oversaw construction of a lot of the facilities for the Lake Placid Winter Olympics. A perk that went home with him was about 2 dozen curling stones. He lined part of his driveway with them! After he passed on we hauled them to Montana where they serve the same purpose.

Great match. Italy is the defending Olympic champions playing before a home crowd. The lady from MN has ice water in her veins. Makes 1 big shot after another. Reminds me of another lady from MN…….

Good action in the men’s XC sprint finals. US won first medal since Bill Koch in 1976 in XC. Norwegian man had incredible sprint uphill.

Nice to see Redding woman in the moguls as well.
