Would not be the first time......Hosting as a 2 is a heck of a lot better than not hosting as a 2.

Yeah. It is extremely difficult for a program to keep playing at a level that is significantly above that of their conference I think. Lots of reasons for it. And really among New Big East schools, who cares about baseball? Marginally I guess you could make a case that Creighton does, but that is about it. It is just too hard when the last half of your schedule is just pretending. It is really hard in any sport. And truth be told the NEWBIE schools only care about basketball. They don’t support other programs. And they don’t have good teams. If they could figure out a way to not put any other teams on the field they would. The can’t so they go through the motions. FWIW, I’m not knocking UConn’s program. They have a good team this year but drew a bad hand in their scheduling Outside the league. Given that it’s baseball, that could be a huge problem for the tournament if they were to get upset in the NBE Tournament. And unlike other sports, baseball is the most susceptible to upsets.“Whither over time” lol. That’s a classic scooter-ism. He’s always predicting doom just over the horizon so that he can’t be held accountable for it.

From a selfish standpoint I'd like to see them come west and play the beavers. It's an hour drive for me to Corvallis. It’s gotta be tough for Penders to schedule non conference games early too.
Which southern big schools want to see pesky Connecticut come down and take 2 of 3 from you before beginning their tough conference schedules??
I know nothing about these teams but just browsing schedules I see a team like Florida with a lot of good wins but a couple of series where they seemed to come out flat. Still overall really good. At the risk of jinxxing us Georgia on the other hand, not as impressive and feasting on mediocre competition. Am I way off on this? It’s gotta be tough for Penders to schedule non conference games early too.

Princeton beat Rutgers last night. Any loss we might have the rest of the year won’t be as bad as that one.
2 and 1 vs ACC. That Louisville win looks good.
Gotta say, any other year, a non conference schedule with Pepperdine, LBSU, USC, USF, Louisville would probably be worth much more RPI wise.

The ones I mentioned are the ones that the talky talkers are going to be drawn to first, though, were any of them having good years.I would also include Rhode Island, Kent State, FIU, and Bryant among others on this list.
I’ve been saying this for 3 years now. I think we have been incredibly unfortunate in the non-conference portion of the schedule This year. Good teams have bad seasons and it seems like lots of them on our schedule are having them this year. I guess if we go 18-3 or something we are still in decent shape, but a couple of well pitched games by oppon3nt in the NBE could be a huge probl3mFor various reasons, I wasn't able to follow much of the games. We did win another series and have won 15 of last 17. Can't ask much more from the team. It does scare me a bit, that if we go on a short losing streak ( hopefully not) we will be a bubble team for an At large bid. Creighton does seem formidable, so they can give us trouble in BE tourney. It would be a shame if we get upset in BE tourney, that we possibly get left out.
All we can do is keep winning. Nobody is going to be happy to see us in their bracket.
Go Huskies !!!
