You know that rankings mean very little once players get to college. Heckel had a much larger role on a NC contending team while Ziebell mostly got garbage minutes at the end of blowouts. I can't tell you who is better at this time, but my point was... if Heckel chooses UConn, the player potentially most impacted (IMHO) will be Allie.

As for the 3 point shooting, Allie was near the bottom at 34.4% so not sure where you think she's the 2nd best 3 point shooter on the team.

• 43.6% Azzi
• 41.1% Ash
• 37% Morgan

Of the guards, only KK was lower at 21.3%, but after a dismal start, she shot much better the 2nd half of the season so i'm not sure who the better 3 point shooter was after January...

Anyway I love the potential addition. But as @jeff30189 pointed out above, players like Allie, Blanca, Kelis, Carol, etc. could/would be affected by minutes.

We’ll see what happens when she gets regular minutes. Sure, I could be wrong but I’m betting she will come in for next season in better shape, with a better understanding of the college game, and become a regular part of the rotation. As to her being the second best three point shooter, obviously I was wrong about that. I did not check the stats and simply relied on what I had seen during her recruitment. I stll believe though, that if/when she starts getting regular minutes, she will shoot the three better than anyne except Azzi.
I just hope she works hard on defense and conditioning over the summer! I have a feeling we are going to see a number of players come back in really good shape for next season. This is going to be a tough team to earn minutes on. I am particularly anxious to see what Jana looks like in November. The news today of Serah’s committment is likely, imo to light a major fire under our Great Pyramid! What a roster!

I think Heckel would be a great addition to Uconn's backcourt. She is fast, a good defender and can shoot. With Geno's tutelage she could develop nicely over the next three years. Who knows, how good she would become?????? Very much in tradition.......

Well, I guess that recent post about Serah Williams committing to LSU was a touch premature, huh ?

And the ones they do have - except Sarah - have all had injury problems - Jana, Ice, and Ayanna have all missed an entire season in one of the last two years. You could have said the same thing about Kaitlyn Chen last years, and yet, due to injuries, there weren't more players than minutes. I suspect the same thing WRT Serah Williams.

Yeah, they got meds for that now. (NOT that I would know anything about that. )

Kaleigh may be delaying her decision in deference to Serah, or just still contemplating her options. She would readily start at ND, Vandy or elsewhere and get lots of PT. Not so much at UConn with having to compete for PT with KK and Kelis. I wonder if she is still on campus?

The same applies to Allie. Comparing her stats with such a small sample is not fair to her. I could selectively show you stats in which Fudd shot well below everyone else on the team. I believe in cherishing what you have.

There has been some articles (latest being from MSN,) saying that she may be interested in transferring somewhere where she can be an immediate starter. That will not be UConn.

Don't forget that Uconn's only loss of a national championshhip came with Paige. She could not summons the energy with Kristen, Nelson Ododa, Aalijah Edwards and Evina to bring home the win. Paige was great but not even the greatest at Uconn........ not greater than DT, STewie or Maya or Sue. Nor greater than Rebecca or Basscom.

Once you start playing in the portal you can't get out of it. Why would a player wait their turn if the coaches decide to go after players others have developed? I understand why UConn would go after a big since they aren't the best at developing bigs but no one prepares the guards better than UConn and Heckel ins't at a level that will change the program.

I have always admired how Geno runs his program but if they fall into the portal trap it will be the beginning of the end for what UConn represents in the WCBB. It would be one thing if they needed to pull players from other teams to compete but that simply isn't the case at UConn.

Exactly. Compete with the players that were recruited. Little doubt in my mind that they would have won the championship without Chen. Over time I see the portal being damaging to NCAA sports.

Umm...Paige was UConn's leading scorer, the only one with double digits and had 6 of the 24 rebounds in that NC game. She summoned her energy quite well but unfortunately her teammates were all having off games.

Well, maybe not "fits". Just in passing on the BIO section for "K9"
Heckel (Southern Cal website), it was reported that besides any number
of double-doubles in H.S. Kayleigh recorded 16 TRIPLE DOUBLES and
one "QUAD-RUPLE" double. Also, on the U18 FIBA webpage (AMERICUP
TOURNAMENT) Kayleigh was the teams primary PG and she was second
highest in team minutes (an average over 7 games). "K9" also
had the MOST assists on the USA's team (something like 3.5 per game). They won the championship, of course, beating Canada by about 12 or 13. I wonder if
she in a Kaitlyn Chen in the making??

According to the Box Score for the Elite Eight game, Heckel did not start this game.

It will be 15...We had 14 on the roster last season and then lost PB, Chen, Aubrey and Q (transfer)...we have Gandy, Kelis, Blanca and now Serah to replace the four we lost, so if Heckel commits we will be at 15.

If you watched Heckel and her ability and potential, while stating that no one prepares guards like Geno, then you most definitely want her in Storrs. She is tough, fast, can guard and score. Hate to say potentially could be the best guard on the roster if she comes or at least Top 2. The loyalty I get those here but this kid has game and yes she can be at that level you speak of under Geno no doubt, she’s his type no doubt!
