I'll say the same thing I said earlier this week.
  • He'll return to UConn with a fat and well-deserved pay raise
  • He'll leave UConn for an East Coast NBA job in less than five seasons, or after his next championship, whichever comes first.
Calhoun is the GOAT, but if Hurley returns, I can't imaging liking a UConn head coach more than I will for Hurley. Just incredible.

I have to say, DH is a lot more fun and entertaining than JC was.

I think he stays, LA is not what it used to be. LOL
I live in LA. It's actually better in a lot of ways, but i dislike it very much (hate is too strong a word). Everything is so spread out, It takes me a half hour just to find good Chinese (or Mexican or etc.) food, and the traffic is bonkers. I work in Santa Monica and live about 9 miles away, but my commute during traffic hours is often close to 1 hour.

I grew up in Connecticut (Glastonbury). I'm a small town guy at heart. Moving back to San Diego in the very near future. Always preferred Boston to NYC as a place to visit. Frankly, even with a huge contract and lots of $$, the city is just a crappy place to live.

Definitely want him to stay, but I think the challenge and money will be too much for him to pass up. Hope I’m wrong.

Nothing, I mean nothing could be better for our publicity this time of year. Friends from all different schools and states are asking me “is Hurley going to the Lakers?”
I'm with you on what this does to UConn's profile if DH stays.

All the praise from so many respected people like Magic Johnson further enhances DH's ability to recruit the best players that meet his standards. That will mean more titles and maybe even Wooden status down the road.........just need five more in a row!

Maybe that's been the end game all along............

I know, I have a place in Poway, crazy crowded now. It's worth living here if you have owned property for a long time and have that rediculous equity. But I would never move here now as a first timer.

football fan chiming in -

re: dan hurley, i'd rather prepare for the worst. the timing couldn't be worse, with us trying to fight for our lives to find a spot in the P4. The season is long over, and the coaching musical chairs has ended, so slim pickins now, too.

If we had had the conference invite locked by now, my worry goes pretty much all the way down.
If he leaves, with us in this current purgatory state, this next hire may be the most consequential one in the athletic dept's history.

the only reason Big 12 rumors even existed as a news topic last year was Dan Hurley's success. I am sorry but I just don't think Kimani or Luke have the "juice" to keep our basketball momentum on track. If we fall back to a .500 team in basketball, you can kill any (already miniscule) shot we ever had at joining a P4 conference.

If that regression does happen, i at least hope that it's not after some initial success that results in a shortsighted contract extension with massive buyout, that would put us in a kevin ollie hole again, to get rid of the guy.

sigh

Might he go? Sure, it's a possibility but i don't think Dan nor Andrea will let the decision rest solely or even mostly on money. If they were chasing money (and higher status), he'd already have gone to Kentucky.

Hurley will be coaching the Knicks after they fire Thibs proceeding the 2026 season. 3 Natties will have cemented Dan's alltime Collegiate legacy.

I believe he stays. As a bonus all this publicity is just great for UCONN. All these high school kids are going to want to play for the coach the Lakers wanted because he is great at player development. In the unlikely event that he does go we better lock up Kamani Young real quick. He can keep the program on it’s current path and get us more championships
