Why UConn doesn't sign players early - a theory

Geno is continually mentioning how hard it is getting to find players of the UConn caliber in talent and intangibles. Every player who gets a UConn offer knows they are on a very short list. This is as opposed to schools like Louisville and others who give out a larger number of offers. I imagine players understand that the offer may be pulled if another player accepts their offer. This creates an impetus for players, specially players in the 20-40 range to sign while the offer is still good. Just my thoughts

It’s no mystery. Geno has said many kids plateau early and that he prefers to offer in players’ junior years although it’s not a hard and fast rule. He likes to follow the trend in their development
