After a game last year we're waiting for traffic to clear and smoking cigars. Area is clean, no excessive drinking, being good citizens. Parking attendants came by and wanted us out ASAP. Pretty clear their schedule was a hell of a lot more important than our experience as patrons. Damn customer!!

I wonder if these guys and Ward realize that we all have about 1 million other things we can do with our time and money. They are about as far away from duck*ing business people as they can possibly be. Not a duck*ing clue!
Speaking of business, I wonder how many business people in the executive MBA program could be tapped for stretch projects. People that really have a drive to succeed, and are part of UConn already.

Give 'em all special projects to research and proposes solutions to the issues that Warde has as part of a multi-million dollar per year sports franchise.

could be a good opp for Suzy and Warde to act like a P5 program, and not a mid-major. The fact that UConn gets ZERO from parking or concessions is shocking !

I'm sure some would argue that the $1.5+ billion commitment the University just got from the State Legislature makes up for the parking and concession change lost to OPM/CRDA.

Unless one of us wins powerball tonight, can we stop beating this dead horse? Not even remotely possible for the next 25 years. Much more productive and impactful to figure out how to improve game day at the Rent. No offense to you or other gay milkmen.

When I win tonight, I'm gonna name the stadium "Doggie's Place"

CRDA doesn't manage Rentschler Field, Global Spectrum does. The absurd rent is due to the fact that you HAVE to pay for both Hartford police and EH police.

I can't believe more people weren't offended when Global wanted volunteers for the AAC tourney.

There should be reprogramming scheduled for anyone who signs up as free labor for that company.

... but CRDA manages Global Spectrum contract as well as LAZ contract.

I could be wrong but I don't believe I have ever seen Hartford PD on Rentschler Field property unless it was isolated mutual aid. East Hartford, CT State Police and UConn Police have responsibility for Public Safety.

I may be in the minority, but other than reducing the police presence and extending tailgating after the game the whole experience is top-notch.

There are way too many police there. In 11 years going there I've hardly ever seen any incidents. It's not Red Sox-Yankees or Pats-Jets. It's a happy environment.

Just need to start winning...

HPD and EHPD are present at the games I've seen them both. That was written in as part of the deal to build the stadium in EH which is partly to blame for the exorbitant rent.

I have never seen the HPD. State police and EHPD everywhere but I must be missing the Hartford police. If they are there it makes zero sense.

EHPD handles outside the stadium. CSP handles on site. It's state property so they pissed on each other's legs and came up with that deal. If you've seen HPD there it would've been a one off if EHPD or CSP ran out of guys to hire.

I would agree, except last year the EH cops basically saved a BC fan's life. He was drunk and obnoxious and had about 25 UConn fans ready to kick his ass. My whole section (all 25 of us) cheered when he got escorted out by the cops.

IIRC ... some of the parking attendants and food servers at the Rent on game day are volunteers. East Catholic has a game day that is predominantly staffed by their students and parents. I'm not sure about the logic behind all of this ... a business venture using volunteers to keep their costs down???

If UConn managed the Rent, they could cut out the LAZy middle man, staff volunteer groups in the lots who are willing to split profits 50/50, and still come out ahead... I digress.

Community relations. Allowing a non-profit group to have a tiny piece of the pie doesn't threaten their profits (and likely allows the nearby towns to swallow some of the challenges of hosting a football stadium) and allows said non-profit to raise a small amount of funds for their good deed. When I was in Storrs, many of the Sport Clubs, Greeks, and other social groups were 'paid' (more that for free, less than for employees or a contractor to do so) to clean-up Gampel after games. Was a win-win for everyone.

Thanks for the clarification ... makes sense.
