If a tree falls in the middle of the forest with no one around, was chief there to report it?
Probably not since he's hanging with (imaginary) 'Dre.

Are you teeing up your next puzzler of "Why women have vaginas and dudes have dicks?"

Why do I keep opening these thread, when I know how inane they'll be? That behavior alone makes me dopier than the original poster.

ouch, If your intention was to shoot an arrow through my heart... bulls-eye!

the irony runs deep

I'm sorry, doesn't our recruiting class $uck? Why don't we land any blue chip recruits?

and my sources tell me Ollie is signing with OKC in the morning

Pepe's >>>>>> Sally's

feel better?

Let me pose a question to you. Would you and every other poster here on the basketball board who has nothing good to say about the football program, attend six games a year in a couple of bad seasons, if it meant getting UConn into the Big Ten? It's really a simple question. You either support it, or you don't, but don't complain about UConn's current position in college athletics because without football, they'd be G5 regardless.

I'm no longer writing on the blog here, so I am free to post whatever I want. Your conclusion that the past recruiting class sucks, without any basis, is foolish. Go tell that to the best defensive tackle in the state of Pennsylvania. Go tell that to the freshman QB, who possesses all the tools. Go tell that to each and every one of the kids who committed, who are all here because not only can they play football at a high level, but because they are great people off the field, as well. Each are someone that every resident of the state can look to and be proud that they are wearing their school's uniform. If you read or listened to any of the interviews I conducted with each of the commits, you might have an idea of what I'm talking about.

You make pretty drastic claims, so I'll ask you the following. Have you seen them play? Have they even arrived at UConn yet, besides Tyler Davis? Have you even seen film on any of the commits? Or are you basing it off a recruiting ranking that some online database put out?

What are your thoughts on UConn beating out Georgia, TCU and Oregon to get a Florida State transfer linebacker, a former 5* recruit, this offseason? Do you even know that occurred?

By your rationale, each of the following sucked just as bad, yet somehow, they are all currently playing professional ball either in the NFL or CFL:

Larry Taylor
Donald Brown
Marcus Easley
Ryan Griffin
William Beatty
Martin Bedard
John Delahunt
Alex Mateas
Tyvon Branch
Darius Butler
Dwayne Gratz
Danny Lansanah
Robert McClain
Sio Moore
Dan Orlovsky
Kendall Reyes
Shamar Stephen
Donald Thomas
Jordan Todman
Nick Williams
Blidi Wreh-Wilson
BJ McBryde

The point is, you fans on the basketball board, that bleed UConn blue and white have a choice. You can either be part of the solution, which is filling stadiums, showing support and making The Rent something it once was. Or you can sit here and bicker and complain about something that really does have a lot of potential right now. It's really your choice. UConn is setting themselves up for something great, not just as an athletic department, but as a school.

A season ticket count of only 15,000 is not going to help that cause. It may only be a small factor, but it's an area that fans can control. So how about you support the program instead of bad mouthing it every chance you guys get?

The QB battle is also not over. They have a JUCO coming from California that will compete for the starting spot this year. With the o-line expected to be much better and more experienced, there's a lot of potential here.

To give you a taste of the upcoming year, here's an interview I did with Garrett Anderson, the QB from Cali:

are we trying to prove we're something we're not?

we're a basketball school, I'm proud of that, I don't think we need any pretenses

Because having to move the mouse less than an inch to click on the bball board is the best exercise most of us get in a typical day.

"Quite frankly, some here asked me to watch the tree that I, quite frankly, predicted would fall in the forest. I did expect the tree to fall as that, quite frankly, is what my sources indicated, but quite frankly it did not in fact fall. I will have to check with my sources and get back to you on why the tree did not fall."

Are you not the same clown who advocated to move all our games to Hartford because for the first time in a millions years we had a better record at the XL than Gampel?

Football allowed us to one-up PC long ago. The all-time leading rusher for Providence's NFL team was a UConn player.

Why do we park in a driveway and drive on a parkway?
Why do cyclists ride bikes , while bikers ride cycles.?
How is it that time flies like an arrow, but fruit flies like a banana.?
How could you pat me on the back in front of my face, and then cut my throat behind my back?
I don't know. Third base.

Channeling my inner Sean Parker, I have always been bothered by the 'The' in 'The Boneyard'. Drop the 'The' and we might have a multi-hundred dollar website here.

Perhaps you're a season ticket holder, attend all the football games, go to the recruiting day & spring game, so I somewhat apologize for the burn if that is the case (and thank you for your support), but from what I'm hearing, It's 'fans' like you that continue to fail to support the athletic program in all major sports that aid (among many other things, a la our lack of winning recently, I'm aware) bringing us up to something that we haven't been yet, that being a basketball AND a football school. No, we'll never be Texas. But do you really think this is our ceiling? As opposed to jarring off about what link is higher than the other, maybe you should spend some time thinking that we can be something more than we already are. Around 200,000 people attended the championship parade in 2014. The support can happen, perhaps you should get on board.

Why can't we route for both the football and basketball team, is it ok to be a fan of both?

You know I agree with what some of you say about "fans like willie" but also need to throw my hat in the ring. I grew up a UConn basketball fan since I was able to listen to George Erlich on the transistor. I also grew up watching Lindsay Nelson replay's on Sunday with dad, Notre Dame football. I went to an occasional football game at Memorial just because. I always read the clippings and articles about football as there was a bond to the school yet it wasn't strong with football. I'll shorten this by saying I began to get into this team as much as possible when they went D1 and went to as many games as I could make although wouldn't miss a Saturday tee time for too many. When they opened The Rent I was all in, why not? It was fun, they were good enough to watch and compete. But let's be honest, stability needs to be on both ends, not just the fans. It's been a while since the Rent opened and the variance in talent, coaching and requiting is obvious. I believe never liked Edsall, not easy to root for but he did a nice job with a ceiling that he finally hit. PP was awful, ruined the game for those of us on the outside looking to maybe come in. And now I do believe in Diaco but he needs to win us right? I mean I went to South Bend for the game and I was a Husky fan so I'm right here, I did not root for ND although going out I was unsure.

If you want to bitch about people like willie and even I for that matter then win us over. I do care about P5 but not enough to put my clubs down to watch a team who is not even fun on the field, not entertaining. Remember I'm a basketball fan and always was. When I was going to the Field House and later the Civic Center where there were 7-8K during the week in the 80's prior and early JC nobody gave a rats a**. Then when they started to win and win they did, the real fans were left out in the cold for the people who jumped on the bandwagon. How did they do that? Easy keep winning and keep throwing an entertaining brand on the court.

Let's see that first before you ask us to drop everything for them. Sorry if that's not a "real fan" but maybe I'm not yet. Up to your coaches and players to make that happen just like basketball for so many who are now just that!

I'd consider myself to be a pretty big UConn football fan but anyone trying to argue that a recruiting class ranked 100th in the country isn't awful is just being willfully ignorant. I know the football board has this weird aversion to star rankings, but come on.

I know it was a throw away joke, but this is one of my pet peeves. Sorry!

If by "unprecendented" crime you mean the lowest crime rates in generations... well then I guess it's unprecedented. Seriously we haven't had crime rates this low since the early 1950s.
