Why is ESPNU showing the first round matchups?

Some poor intern has already been ushered out the door, Adnan Virk-style, just less famous.

The problem is that ESPN has laid off a ton of the grunts that do all the technical work while the bulk of the talking heads are still spouting their jibber jabber all day. Notice how the wcbb scores were cut back to just top 25 games unless you weave through a few pages. And the actual wbb page has become an endless string of tweets, mostly promoting the WNBA. Gotta make more profit to cover the poor performance of the rest of the conglomerate.

Miss. State is a #1 seed; not sure if in Portland or Greensboro

I'll be very surprised if Baylor is sent anywhere but Greensboro. MSU must be in Portland.

ALBANY
R Morris @ 1 Lou / Michigan v Kansas St
Boise @ 4 Ore St / UALR v Gonzaga

PORTLAND (?)
? @ 1 Miss St / Clem v
FGCU @ 4 Miami / UCF v Ariz St
Whoa so UCF made it in?

I believe it's the first time since I've been paying attention to this that an at-large bid has been given to a team with no wins over the at-large field.

.-.
In my bracket I had 1 UConn v 4 Syr & 2 Lou v 3 Ore St. Looks like we got that anyway but with different seed #s.

Oh I wait, I forgot my own bracket! I had UConn/Syr & Miss St/OreSt.

Mississippi State is a #1 (Portland?) and the 8/9 there is South Dakota Clemson I think.

Also, if both Oregon State and Miami are 4-seeds, who are the 3's? NC State, Maryland, Syracuse and ... South Carolina?

Oh never mind, I see above ... Iowa State was made a 3. Interesting.

.-.
So ...
NY: Lou / UConn/ Md__ / OreSt
NC: Bay / Iowa / NCSt / SCar
IL: ND_ / Stan / IaSt / TAMU
OR: MSt / Oreg / Syra / Mia

Apparently here is UConn's bracket:

2 UConn vs. 15 Towson
7 Rutgers vs. 10 Buffalo

3 Maryland vs. 14 Radford
6 UCLA vs. 11 Tennessee

.-.
Greensboro region:
1 Baylor
4 South Carolina
3 NC State
2 Iowa

Chicago region:
1 ND
4 TAMU
3 Iowa St
2 Stanford

NC State - Iowa is very intriguing to me. I would love to see how Cunane fares v. Gustafson. Hope that matchup does happen.

So what are the guesses for the order of the #1 seeds (or did I just miss them?):
Baylor
ND
Louisville
MS St

Greensboro region:
1 Baylor
4 South Carolina
3 NC State
2 Iowa

Chicago region:

4 TAMU
3 Iowa St
2 Stanford
The committee sure does like matching Notre Dame with Stanford and Texas A&M more often than not.

So the last 4 teams in were:
Indiana, Auburn, Tennessee, UCF

Ohio got left out. (Cue the cries of mid-major injustice!)

Also left out: TCU, Arkansas.

In my final 16 ranks:
NY: 3 / 4 / 10 / 12 = 29 !
NC: 1 / 8 / 9 / 14 = 32
IL: 2 / 7 / 15/ 16 = 40 !!
OR: 5 / 6 / 13 / 11 = 35

What puzzles me is their RPI rank of 15th. How is that possible? I thought that RPI was the best measuring stick?

That was a rhetorical question. It's been demonstrated that a team could lose it's entire schedule of games and still have a top RPI. Maybe UCF will force the women's side to abandon RPI for a more performance-based system that distinguishes between good wins/loses and bad wins/loses. But I doubt it.

Well FWIW Massey currently has UCF as #32. So maybe *that's* what got them in :p

Using Creme's Regionals, but I believe is incorrect
