Where would Monteverde finish in the BE?I'm not worried about Braylon's AAU or HS competition but I do think he will have a more traditional freshman experience in that he will likely have real up and downs and then start to figure it out in February and March like most 5 stars do. As for the comparison with Liam, it isn't really fair but not because of talent. Monteverde is nothing like a traditional HS and if you look at their players from last year... everyone seems to be thriving and the foundation of that success appears to be Monteverde .
On a side note: Dan Hurley happened to play on one of the greatest HS teams in history and I don't think his best St. Anthony's team with three future NBA players could compete night in and night out with last year's Monteverde.
I think last year's Montverde team playing this year as college freshmen together would win the BE with a competent staff (say Sean Miller and above).Where would Monteverde finish in the BE?
Top 4.Where would Monteverde finish in the BE?
I got to see Wes score 50 without the three-point line !!1960's reserve. Fan favorite.
Got a round of cheers when he came in.
Hustled every minute he played. Yankee Conference days. Toby and Wes, Spider Hesford and Tom Penders among other players of that era. No Indiana connection for those players.
Certainly not comparing Wes with Maravich, but the concept is the same. Both would have had higher point averages per game had the 3 point shot been part of the game.I got to see Wes score 50 without the three-point line !!
Braylon Mullins 2024 AAU Scoring Highlights ... young Ray Allen comp
Mullins played two games today - the HS schedules can be tough. They lost in the finals even though he had 33. Looks like his 3 ball was off today for the first time (5-18 combined) but he found other ways to score and got to the line. This Indy Star columnist posted some clips all day (not just of Mullins)

This kid's game absolutely looks like the Slicker from Cabin Creek, WV. Fella by the name of Jerry West.Mullins seems to be Hurleys most hyped recruit to date as I haven’t seen this level of pre-arrival love with any other recruit. The staff kicking out to watch him after the Butler game closing in on the holidays says a lot in of itself. Can’t wait to watch this sharp shooter in a Husky uniform.
To say he's "never" played against good competition is pretty pathetic. Watching all the tapes available now show that there's a lot of talent in Indiana basketball teams. Basketball in Indiana is a part of their sports heritage. They cherish it and will keep up their end of the bargain. Kids there are like southern kids playing football. They want to be part of that activity and talent is generated yearly. There's some pretenders who think they know basketball on this website and they say stuff that's nonsensical. Forgive them for they only know diddly .......He has the right size, length and mentality. He's never played very good competition, and his HS team only plays zone. They stick him at the front of a 1-2-2 to get a bunch of steals. Sometimes the wing of a 1-3-1. So I'd expect and adjustment period as he learns how to play real defense. High potential though.
Bulletproof?Liam’s Montverde team also had Curtis Givens III who’s averaging 14.4 minutes per game as a freshman with LSU this year. Unbelievably stacked team that went 33-0. Bullet proof like the repeat champion Huskies.
Braylon’s hs competition isn’t incredible, but perhaps it’s allowed Mullins to develop a more well rounded game on both ends of the floor, because he tasked with impacting every aspect of the game from scoring and initiating offense to guarding the opponents best/biggest player every night.
The projected roster has the makings to be once again bullet proof:
Nowell 6’0 (Soph. Guard)
Ball 6’4 (Jr. Guard)
Mullins 6’5 (Fr. Guard)
Adams 6’5 (Fr. Guard)
Mahaney 6’2 (Sr. Gaurd)
Stewart 6’7 (Jr. Forward)
Ross 6’7 (Jr. Forward)
Abraham 6’7 Soph. Forward)
Furphy 6’6 (Fr. Forward)
Reed Jr. 6’10 (Sr. Center)
Rebie 7’0 Fr. (Center/Forward)
Singare 6’10 (Jr. Center)
