Who were your childhood bball heroes?

The one and only, George "Iceman" Gervin.

Bob McAdoo was the first NBA player I watched a bunch of and learned a double clutch mid-air jumper as a result. As a teen it was purely a horse shot, but later actual in-game applications and ancillary benefit of practicing jumping.

The late 60s/early 70s Knicks were the team in my formative teen years. While tall, I didn't enjoy playing hoops all that much, nor was I any good at anything other than taking up space. But I did manage a decent imitation of Dick Barnett's kick shot.

And then the ABA and Dr. J happened and it was goodbye NBA, hello tri-colored ball. The Nets were my jam until they were forced to sell Dr. J to Philly. I hated the NBA for that and didn't watch again for at least another decade.

Bird was clearly 'the guy' for me, but I was also big fans of McHale, Parrish, DJ, and non-C's Michael Jordan, 'Nique, David Robinson, Hakeem and John Stockton. I know Stockton may stick out as the 'odd' guy on the list but the man just hustled and worked and it seemed like every pass was right into the palms of the hands.
