Interestingly enough, that would be me! And I believe that I do a pretty good job, overall (considering what it pays, which isn't much BTW).

Why do you ask!
You need to work on throwing combinations to the body with coach. It'll take an accumulation of punches to knock DD down.

Women's board poster.

Hilarious. Hey John, when is the last time you saw Calhoun trying to go after a Woman's player on another team like Geno did? Or do you enjoy when Geno attacks reporters on the school paper instead of professionals?

He is pretty much the same on the women's side as the men's side. There is no need to take a specific posters opinion and make this into a battle between men's and women's fans or JC vs. Geno. There are a lot of people posting on the men's side who also happen to be women's fans and primarily women's posters such as HuskNan and are great supporters of JC.

Thank you. I just left it at "not really", but you articulated by general feelings on the topic very succinctly.

My question is also my issue with UConn's Mens Basketball, and it is simply this:

Who is Responsible for Getting Coach Calhoun Under Control?

Peace,

John Fryer

Dyson, I think. But he is out there playing me-first basketball, again.

Women's board poster.
Speaking about womens board posters apparently SNY & Fox 61 is pursuing televising the womens games. In a recent thread on the womens board about 90% were in favor of CPTV remaining.
I don't know about anyone else, but I cannot watch the CPTV games. Naturally, most of their games are ridiculous blow outs. With all the time outs, we get these windbags from CPTV dunning you for money.
On the other hand, the Stanford, Baylor, & ND games were quite enjoyable on either ESPN or CBS. They were all close games, but even the Texas A& M game on ESPN, being a blow out, was far more enjoyable than being forced to watch these CPTV blowhards selling a $12 tee shirt for a $250 donation. Or, the obnoxious CPTV president inferring that UConn fans could lose the rights to viewing the games if donations don't come in.
That probably explains the mentality of the poster who started this thread.

You may have a gripe with CPTV, but I don't believe you are being fair to the woman's fans who are supporting CPTV over this issue. It is a loyalty thing for them the same as we have a loyalty issue for JC and the men's bb team. CPTV has provided coverage for those fans for a number of years by winning bids for that coverage and those fans respect that and are voting in favor of CPTV as a demonstration of their appreciation.

With that said, most of them would understand the value an upgrade in media coverage would have for the woman's team and most would change their opinions. It is hard for people to change. Just wait until JC retires and watch the battles on this board. And if you don't feel like waiting, dig up the threads on the football board after RE left to see the division between people who supported RE and those who were happy he left.

Again, I said, to me, the CPTV games are unwatchable. Obviously, we all can see that the majority of womens fans disagree with me. I enjoy the womens game. But, only the competetive games. The fundraisers, becomes to much for me. But, that's me. I have no idea how many fans agree/disagree with me. But, hey, it's a free country.

I was just explaining the reason I as see it for the women's board supporting CPTV. I know there are several fans on that board who were excited when UConn got AD and DD and were happy for us. So I hate to see this thread become a men's vs. women's venting and therefore I'm trying to do damage control before that happens. Nothing personal with you.

Oh, yeah, I do believe 99% of the womens fans are also fans of the mens team. Likewise, the men root for the women (myself included) I'm just very surprised that there is so much loyalty to CPTV over there.

No one was interested in showing women's basketball games of any kind back in 1994-95 except CPTV. They showed the majority of the games not picked up by network TV and helped to create the women's team's Huskymania. A lot of fans appreciate CPTV's commitment to the program and its helping to grow the team's popularity. Another thing about CPTV is that the station creates programs like the Geno Show or postseason specials - I know fans would really hate to lose those.

One of the CPTV fund raisers is a real looker, so I enjoy that much of the broadcast.

I go as far back as to when CPTV did some men's games in the Joey Whelton, Tony Hansen days. Naturally, they had fundraisers then, too.
If SNY gets the womens games they'll definately have a Geno show. They have coaches shows for football, and, at times, mens hoops. At JC's age, I don't think he cares about coach's shows. I don't think he does one on SNY, and while Geno does a regular 1/2 hr. on TIC, JC will do an occasional 15 minutes. And, it's usually taped in advance.
