Who is our Rival?

We're the alpha dog in New England. Right now the media is trying to make Harvard our challenger for dominance. So we need to beat them like the redheaded stepchild every chance we get.

It's hard to hate Syracuse when they can't compete with us for championships. Duke is declining. I never hated Florida even when they were winning. Washington? Why? Because they call themselves Huskies? Arizona will be a great rivalry in years to come, but they're on the other side of the country, we not only don't play, we don't have any common opponents. If there's a game, it's in the Final Four or Elite Eight.

How does Duke decline with the number of 5 stars they get? As long a K is there they may not win NC's but they are in the mix.

In CUSA 2.0 all we had were Southern Miss and UAB (barf!) so we scheduled Louisville and Tennessee OOC, and developed a rivalry with Gonzaga...I do hope we keep playing them.

Krzyzewski is 67, turns 68 this season, and has missed time in several seasons including last year due to health problems. Duke got bounced in the first round of the NCAA tourney two of the last 3 years. Maybe they're not declining but I see them as less of a threat.

For the record I went to UCONN...I just live in the BC area and cannot stand how they dump on our football program, academics, etc. It's almost like they are completely afraid of us but because they're in the ACC it's all they have to bring us down. It's their hate that brings out my passion, if you catch my drift. That's why I wish they were our rival so we could have a New England game, and kill them often.

Reason I brought this up is because it's a shame that we even have to discuss this. I'd like to see the school try to single an opponent out to be this rival of sorts. It sucks as an alumni.

I'd say it's the NCAA right now too.

With all due respect to our current conference mates, it's pointless to try to start a rivalry with any of them because we're only going to be in this conference for another 5-10 years...at which point we will have either been picked by the B1G or ACC or we will have to dump football and go back to the Big East.
